These do not have barbed ends, but rather screw on. I found that they leak even with double banding on each end. It appears the water follows the low point between the threads and comes out the end of whatever type of plastic pipe you are using. .
Yes, they work much better in my experience than the squeeze-on clamps (which work great, then suddenly fail without warning). Suggest using two clamps per connection, with the worm gears on opposite sides. Be sure to tighten them firmly.
