Apollo Expansion PEX is cross-linked polyethylene tubing designed for use within potable water piping systems. Produced using a Peroxide method, Apollo Expansion PEX is PEX-A pipe. Having been in use for over 50 years PEX-A pipe has the highest rate of cross-linking of any PEX pipe. Apollo Expansion PEX is the most flexible PEX pipe available. Apollo Expansion PEX Pipe provides superior durability, corrosion resistance and flexibility for the most demanding environments. Apollo Expansion PEX is available in red, white and blue for the simple identification of cold water, hot water and main water lines. The Apollo Expansion PEX system is a comprehensive cold expansion piping system comprised of brass fittings, poly alloy fittings, manifolds, valves, fasteners, tools and tubing designed for implementation in water delivery systems, simple or complex.

AnswerApollo PEX-A pipe is compatible with PEX-A and PEX-B fittings. PEX-A fittings must be secured to the pipe via a sleeve and PEX-B fittings must be secured to the pipe via a copper crimp ring, stainless steel pinch clamp, or stainless steel crimp sleeve.
Can this be cut with a old style pipe cutter, type you rotate around the pipe as in copper pipe ?

AnswerYes, Apollo PEX-A pipe may be cut with an old style cutter. However, it may be tough to insert the expansion head or fitting into the pipe afterwards. The most efficient way to cut PEX pipe is with a tubing cutter, such as Apollo Model # 69PTKC001, Internet #301573771, Store SKU #1002489791.

AnswerNo, Apollo PEX-A pipe is approved for potable water only. You will want to use something like HOME-FLEX corrugated stainless steel tubing.

This is the pex to use for expansion style fittings, a superior method of pex installation that results in greater flow than crimp style that reduce flow at each fitting. This is particularly important in hot water recirculation systems or in larger households where every bit counts!

PEX-A is really easy to work with and gets the job done in relatively short time. I did use a crimp tool instead of the expansion fitting worked fine no issues; also found it to be easier to uncoil then PEX-B type.

Very easy to work with. Tubing is rolled but easily straightened out. Unroll it and let it warms up under the sun for few minutes and it can be shaped to the contour of the trench. I am able to route a 100 ft. and make a 90 U turn to connect from water meter to my house in one piece not cutting no joining. Very happy with it.
Manual expansion tool work perfectly. It takes some muscle to press it. I have to ask my wife to hold the tubing while I insert to head to expand it. So plan for some help ahead of time.
Make sure you get the right fitting. Must be PEX-A fitting. Crimping fitting won't work
