Our well water tests at CaCo3 31.3 GPF, iron 0.059 mg/L. Will it handle this?

Asked by Bradley November 7, 2016

Aquasana says " . . . separate the minerals while they travel through the pipes". Since not removed from the water then it is NOT a softener and through the magic of deceptive marketing they sell it as a softener THEN tell you that you have to spend more $ to add a TRUE softener.

Does this item need to hook up to a drain system or just the water system'

No drain, just the water system. We have very hard water (well system) and previously had a salt system. I hated the salt system, buying salt, lugging the bags, fitting it. My husband installed this Aquasana system (he is a licensed plumber) so unit is installed with the pre filter as well as an additional whole house filter. I can not recommend this system, while it may be easier, up to 600,000 gallons, the salt system did a much better job, I now have issues with water leaving rust residue, and I never did before. I promised I would not complain about the salt being difficult to handle, if he would rip this out and reinstall a new salt system. He will be doing so soon.

Can this descaler/softner be used with well water?

SimplySoft is designed to handle hardness levels below 25 GPG and works best with hardness levels at 15 GPG or below. As long as your water falls in that range, the system will certainly help! Thank you, Aquasana Customer Support

Is there a filter and is it washable or replaceable?

the pre cartridge is supposed to be replaced every 6 mos. The main system is supposed to last some crazy amount, about 600,000 gallons (like 10 years) I dont have anymore white scale in my home. Love it. Its not a water softener, its a descaler. Will not give your skin that slimy feeling

Do I have to replace a filter or something or is it totally maintenance free for 6 years?

Thank you for your inquiry. The system is maintenance free for 6 years. Once the life of the media expires, you can simply switch out the tank.

What is the best way to test my water?

You can likely find a lab in your area. Some colleges have water testing available through their science departments. We do carry a water test kit. If you are interested you can contact our sales team and place an order for a kit. Thank you, Aquasana Customer Support

How large of a house will this service?

Asked by Randy84 March 7, 2018

We have a 3,000 sq ft 3 1/2 bath condo on a 9th floor, and did not notice any drop in water pressure/capacity. In fact, our plumber flushed the plumbing system and we replaced the water heater and shower heads after the Aquasana whole house system was installed, resulting in a significant improvement in the water pressure, especially when showering. The system does not seem to negatively impact water flow at all.

Great tasting water!
Customer review from aquasana.com logo
Installation was straight forward, but the instructions leave a lot to be desired, ie. all there is, is a picture of the completed install. Very few instructions. It would be helpful to show the plumbing "behind" the wall. That picture is far from a "normal" install. We flushed the tanks as directed, but after installing, there was still a significant amount of carbon coming out of the closest faucet. I also drained and flushed the water heater to make sure I had all the carbon out of that. Would have been nice to know that ahead of time, and run a bit of water into a bucket before completing the connection back into the house and contaminating all the lines. The water immediately tasted better (like bottled water). My wife and I both noticed softer water when showering, and she doesn't have to use fabric softener when washing bath towels. The dishwasher also works better, and less scaling on the glasses. I have noticed that there is almost no scale buildup on the faucets or shower heads. However, the scale that was on the shower head has not been cleared off after two months of use. Not a big deal, I can clean that to then insure scale buildup does not come back.

I purchased whole house filtration system from Aquasana, SimplySoft Salt Free Water Softener is N...
I purchased whole house filtration system from Aquasana, SimplySoft Salt Free Water Softener is NOT a softener. It is descaler, it makes the particles very small, but do not soften the water. I have checked my water hardness and it reached level of 456 mg/l CaCO3. I spoke with Aquasana customer service and was told that only option to soften the water is to remove their SimplySoft "Softener" and install Salt Water Softener. After spending 2000$ for a system that should take care of my water problems I need to spend another 500$ to make it right. Aquasana water filters and UV light works 100% good, but adding 700$ "softener" should be reconsidered by customers.

Product still leaves stains on appliances
Customer review from aquasana.com logo
I have had the whole house system for 6 months. So far everything is good. Only remark is that I have a hard water well and the product will still leave hard water mark/calcium buildup on appliances and showers.

Dont waste your money
Customer review from aquasana.com logo
I had a normal salt based softener in my old house for 14 years and was still working perfectly when I sold the house. This system is no longer "conditioning" my water after less than 6 months. Everyone I knew told me not to buy this, I didnt listen. I even had to go buy extra parts at the store to have it installed even though I got the premium install kit. Now I have to go spend money on something else.

Salt free softener does not work over 20 grains
Customer review from aquasana.com logo
Salt free softener does not work with our 22 grain hardness water. I was assured before buying it would work. Its more expensive to send it back than to keep it. Cheaper to buy a different water softener elsewhere.

Does not reduce build up, lots of residue
Customer review from aquasana.com logo
I’m a certified licensed plumber in the province of Manitoba, and from my experience(purchased product) and experiences with this system, is customers are not satisfied, faucet aerators are plugging, fixtures are stained and shower glass very hard to clean, TDS(majority is hardness), still very high post filter, SALT SOFTENER TREATMENT WORKS VERY WELL, And the only way to properly remove calcium and magnesium build up, is get a salt system, you will be way more satisfied.
