I've had a couple of the cheaper pickup tools and 2 mid priced ones. The cheaper were very flimsy and fell apart after a few uses. The connecting cable from trigger to claws on one of the mid price one's broke, which was the REASON FOR PURCHASING THE ARCMATE Industrial Orange Pick Up Tool FROM Home Depot. It works as claimed. I tested it picking up a 5 pound rock. The tool is used mainly for items on high shelves in my garage, but also pickup other items found in my drive that I don't want to pickup by HAND.
I love it BECAUSE IT WORKS.

Only problem I had with this unit is the 1/8' x 1/2 " screw that holds the rubber cups was not strong enough - the rubber tips kept falling off. I made a slight 'engineering change' - bought some bolts and window suction cups and drilled a hole in the suction cups, then reversed the fastening mechanism -- bolted from the open side of the suction cup throught the cup holder mechanism and then fastened the nut on the outside of the spring straps. Works like a charm!!!

I was introduced to this tool by a city worker...
I was introduced to this tool by a city worker and noticed how much "better made" it was. It took me awhile to find where to buy it, but now I have 5 of them (car, shop, tractor, living room, bedroom) and have given a couple away as gifts. It saves a lot of "stooping over" which I'm no longer good at doing.

Best ones I’ve owned yet
Usually get the gophers that fold into bucket, but after constantly replacing those I bought these. Had them for practically the whole season. Still in good condition and ready for another season.
