A:Â Hello, yes the elephantrunk II Locking Parcel Drop is designed to be bolted into the ground. Installation hardware for concrete and wood are included. There is only a pre-drilled mounting hole on the bottom of the parcel drop. It is not designed to be installed from the back of the parcel drop. Thanks for reaching out!

A:Â It comes with the necessary hardware for bolting down to wood or concrete. There are no other mounting points, and the top has to have clearance to open. I'm sure some clever person could drill holes and attach it by the side as long as they allowed for the lid opening and also for packages going inside and scraping against whatever bolts are used.

A:Â Single hole in the base with hardware provided allows installation into any flat surface as long as you have the drilling capability.

A:Â Yes, I bolted mine to concrete. You will need a 5/8 inch concrete bit and a hammer drill. It can be bolted to a wood deck also but as for railings you would probably have to drill additional holes the body of the locker.

I get a lot of packages and while they have never been stolen, I always fear that they will. Therefore I have been playing with the idea of buying a lockable parcel drop box for a while now.
The Elephantrunk Locking Parcel Drop is made of sturdy, powder coated metal. It looks good sitting next to the front door of my house. The mechanism works as it"s supposed to, BUT you have to slam the lid shut or press it down, otherwise the lock will not engage and the box stays unlocked. I'll see if I can bend the lid a little to make it work better.
The box can be bolted to a concrete floor as well as to a wooden deck.

I wish I didn't need this, but living in an urban area in the age of online shopping requires it. I ordered it off the pix online so I wasn't sure what to expect aesthetically. While it's mildly utilitarian, it does have a pleasant appearance, with a slight outward taper in its height and well finished edges/corners. The color and matte finish are perfect for my 100 year old home and would seem very compatible with most residential or office settings. The size and capacity also seem well thought out - big enough to be useful for most of the packages we receive, yet small enough to not stand out on the front porch.
The locking process is basic but reasonably effective - leave it unlocked for a single delivery each day where it locks after shutting, or leave it locked and put your combination code on your delivery address to open it for each drop. Whether or not delivery people pay attention to an address code and use the parcel drop is yet to be determined, but I set it in a conspicuous place with a small placard to increase the odds.
Quality is pretty good overall. Sturdy enough to sit on with good metal work and paint finish. All the hardware needed for a secure wood or masonry floor installation is included along with clear instructions (just one center bolt hole to drill into your floor). The hinge construction is simple but spring loaded so it doesn't slam. I liked the foam pad on the interior floor to absorb package impact when dropped in. The lock system (key and keypad) is of basic quality and sophistication, but it gets the job done. I would expect it to work fine for many years with nothing more than an occasional drop of oil on the accessible lock mechanism. Note that the keys are critical to have if the batteries go dead or the lock fails.

This is a great solution for all of those packages it seems everyone is getting now. It provides a means for the delivery of most packages to the house to be placed inside a locked container that can be secured to the floor or deck. So far, the normal means of leaving it unlocked and the carrier putting the package in and closing the lid to lock as worked pretty well. I work from home so can get packages pretty quickly after they are delivered. Once I think the carriers are used to it, I'll add the unlock code to the shipping instructions so if more than one delivery is made, the additional carriers can unlock it and place their package inside before closing and locking.
The unit is pretty large and according to the specs can receive packages up to 15.4 in. x 11.9 in. x 22.1 in. That probably covers at least 80% of all of the packages we have delivered.
Installation is pretty simple, all I needed to do was mark and drill one 1/4" hole in the wood decking, screw in a double-ended screw, place the unit over the screw, and tighten down a knob to lock it in place. It also comes with a lead anchor sleeve for installation on concrete. I suppose someone determined could still make off with it, but that might attract some attention. And they won't have the keys.
The unit is mostly pre-assembled, the only thing to add are the leveling feet. Shipping without those attached makes it easier to mark the floor or deck for drilling the one hole.
It was pretty easy to change the code, but not straightforward. Reading the instructions carefully will help.
The unit has three modes of use, normal mode which was described above, never locked, and always locked.
The keys are a great selling point to me. I dislike electronic locking units that don't also have spare keys and this one comes with two. While this may increase the ability of someone to unlock it, we aren't having bars of gold delivered so it at least discourages the casual grab-and-go thief. The lock is at least a step above house keys and will require some effort to pick it.
It's pretty lightweight, which was nice when installing. It will be interesting to see how well it holds up in use. I'm sure that keeps the cost down, but not if I have to buy one every few years because it gets dinged up with use. Time will tell though.
When I first received it, it was difficult to close, I had to really push. I did some checking and found a small nut under the hinge. Once I removed it, it closed further and only needed a gentle push to close. I think a little quality control is needed at the factory.
One concern I have is kids playing and locking someone inside. Although I don't think it's airtight, the inclusion of some type of internal unlocking device might be a good idea.

I received my Elephantrunk locking parcel drop in box today, it came well packed with no damage. It will open with a key or a easily changeable push button digital keypad.
If you leave it in the normal mode the delivery person can put a package in it without using the code, they can simply lift the lid drop the package in then shut the lid and it will automatically lock. The reprogrammable keypad is very easy to operate, you will need four AA batteries (not included). You can securely bolt it to the surface with the included hardware, if you are bolting it to concrete you will need a 5/8 inch concrete bit and a hammer drill. In the bottom of the locker is a thick foam pad to prevent damage to parcel.

This product is GREAT! It’s very sturdy, waterproof, and it is secured bolted to the sidewalk in front of my house in Philly. No more stolen packages thanks to this product. A+ stuff that is worth the money. A TaskRabbit hire installed it for me and it took about 20 minutes.

A nice looking lock box that blends in well. Years ago I used to build lock box and safes, so I personally think it's under built for what it costs. That being said, it does have a good design and is well constructed--I just wouldn't call it heavy gauge/duty construction. The size is a good compromise of being able to handle medium sized packages and not being an eyesore.
The powder coating is nice with only one spot chipped off on the unit I received. It's hidden by the lid, so it's no problem and does allow a look at the bare metal which does appear to be galvanized. I've had the unit directly in three days of straight rain with no water infiltration.
The unit was packaged very well and was easy to unpack. The instructions were pretty good and installing the batteries and programing the lock went smoothly. There is a LED that lights up the interior when the lid is open so you can see if you have packages in the dark.
Keep in mind that this unit will not stop a half way determined thief, but it will certainly deter those looking for a quick grab and run. After the code is entered you need to give it two seconds or so before the lid is released. The lock engages great with a gentle yet firm press of the lid.

First, this locking parcel drop box is solidly built, large enough for most of the packages delivered to our home, has included instructions on how to secure the entire box to a heavy or immovable object (e.g. porch...so the porch-pirates don't take the entire box) and appears to be weather-proof, even though I could not find any specific info concerning that. There are several ways to operate the lock, my preference is to have it locked all the time (because of potential multiple deliveries from different carriers each day) and provide the delivery companies with the code as part of my profile on their system. Unfortunately, only FedEx has a clear, straight-forward way to input that information...neither UPS nor USPS makes this easy (I am on my second day of trying to get info from each of these)...something to check out before purchasing this.

Strong and decorative security needed for today's needs.
With the amount of deliveries taken in these days, this lockable drop adds a piece of mind on the days you just cant be there to accept it in person. Strong steel box that mounts to any surface easily. The locking mechanism is unique allowing single access, or multiple access as needed. Size is just right with most items fitting right into the box. (Of course if you ordered a 4' level or a train set it will not fit) In addition, were it was installed you can still hide larger items behind it if necessary. Box is waterproof for those nasty days and I liked the fact it is metal to protect against even simple things, like shoveling snow around it.
