Asked by: Ram
Depending on which wheel you select. Take the wheel pin on the left side and insert it into the inner pin hole. This will engage the transmission and always give you power to make right hand turns. If both pins are set on the inside pin holes, both wheels will turn with the transmission.

Is the top of the chute adjustable; in other words, does it bend downwards to shorten the throwing distance? If it's not adjustable, then 40-feet means throwing snow into neighbors' yards both next door and across the street.
Asked by: Mike
Yes. There is a lever for this on the control panel.

After first 2 hours of use in 4-6 inches of snow noticed 5 of 6 1/4 in x by 1/2 in screws holding bearing retainers for friction drive shaft snapped off. Because of blizzard forecast for next day spent 5 hours removing and replacing broken screws myself. After using machine for maybe another 4-5 hours for remainder of season serviced machine and put into storage for summer. Removed machine from storage end of September this year and noticed another of the screws I had replaced had snapped off just sitting in my shed during the summer. Contacted Ariens and was told they had never heard of that. Sent my machine to ariens dealer for warranty work. Dealer has had machine for a month and it snowed 6 inches of snow and I have no machine. Don't buy this piece of crap. Dealer told me he won't even display this model its so bad.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from One week two belts I’ve owned a Husqvarna blowrt for past 3 years with no issues until this year. Something was slipping and I didn’t have time to fix it so i had to take it in for repairs. In mean time someone reccomendee I try Ariens because they “never break down”. Had huge storm in Buffalo, NY and did my driveway first time( 2 1/2”) with ease. Felt omg this is way better than my Husky. Boy was i wrong. Next day with almost 6” it went but slow. But what my husky did with plow snow in apron verse this paper weight was night and day. Started squealing immediately(Was in first gear)... later that day even 3” was making it squeal so i changed belt. It was already messed up. It snowed another 15” that week and between doing my grandmothers and mine... i was shoveling by Friday. Stay away from this garabage machine. I attempted to try and contact support but I couldn’t register on site. I’ll try calling today. I doubt I can return this. So I’m out $900...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact 24 value for sure I purchase this Compact 24 yesterday December 1st 2018. I wanted this for the 2-16" of snow storms. I was apprehensive about it not having auto turn or steering triggers. But its size is what mainly won me over. I wanted the deluxe 24 initially great value as well but in person it seemed overkill almost for wisconsin winters with a city home driveway. The deluxe 24 felt to big the compact 24 felt just right. I took it out the next day on a 2" snow and put gas in started first pull effortless. Made sure everything was adjusted right. Hit the snow running. Even with minimal snow it handled well. I locked both wheels to drive which I like full power to both wheels and it's so light and easy to move turning it, just swing it a bit and go - it takes off nice and grips well! Turning is not an issue w both locked wheels the one wheel just skids/slides a bit when turning takes minor muscle. Reverse is plenty fast and high gear forward can spin the tires great to dig and go. There is potential to add the weight kit to the front for big snow but I think it will be ok and do well. Overall pretty impressed so far with it operationally. Have to see now when big snow comes! Everything about it works great flawlessly love the rod chute rotation handle very stout same with all the levers just feels right how something durable should be built. The light does not shine in your eyes at least not mine. I say get one you will be pleasantly surprised even without any sort of steering assist. You can do 1 wheel drive either side which makes steering easy but loose some traction and might have pulling one way. I just like it locked. Works wonderful so far. Power seems perfect for city home. Doesn't seem to loud. Great machine! Hope it lasts a few decades and runs well in deep stuff !

Used it the first time and it will not throw wet snow. All my neighbors were out using their machine and mine would not blow snow. All this machine wanted to do is push the snow. Now the drive wheels also quite engaging. If Aries does not make this right I will make a You Tube video so you can see it for your self. I really feel I have been taken advantage of and was embarrassed that a brand new machine did not want to throw snow and all my neighbors were using their machine with no problem!

Have to be honest here - it was fairly easy to assemble, and when it works, it's great! But that celebration was short lived - already under repairs for using this machine less than 10 times TOTAL. It really shouldn't be this soon where a product with such investment should be in the shop given proper maintenance. And lo and behold: Three weeks outside of the warranty window...so that's more out of my pocket and wasted time that I don't need. I'd also recommend for those that aren't as technical to include a URL path on assembly instructions and place them on a video hosting account. That would in theory make other people's jobs a lot easier as I'm reading others having issues with putting the snow blower together.

Just got it this Saturday , instructions are not good, took me longer because instructions weren’t clear...tried to call manufacturer on Monday because I had questions, and there no where to call, no phone number listed...I can’t believe in this day and age a product costing almost $1K doesn’t have customer service...if I knew I would have gotten a Cub Cadet, at least they have a phone number.

It is great if the snow is nice and fluffy. If the snow is a little bit wet or icey you will be cleaning it out not stop, so much so that it will make you return to the shovels. My neighbors both have snow blowers and their machines work great in multiple conditions. I would get a larger more powerful machine or try another brand.
