Questions & Answers

My nephew had lost his grandfather's key and was wondering if he could splice the wires to turn the snowblower on?

Asked by Vick December 20, 2020

Hello. Thank you for reaching out. We do not recommend that you splice the wires due to a safety concern. Thank you.

Asked by LT April 30, 2020

Hello Lt, Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. This item has been discontinued and due to that we do not have a price available. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future.

How do I get better traction on my machine.the wheels does not seem to rotate properly. I've bought the ST24LE compact the other day for the coming

Asked by Collin January 24, 2016

I am wondering if the machine was set up with a single wheel drive. If so check the operation manual under Pin lock. It will show you how to set up the machine to have both wheels drive.

HD is now selling model # 920021 serial # 079345. What model is this or did I copy #'s incorrectly?

Asked by JWjr September 3, 2014

Model 920021 is still the compact 24 but they did replace the 13 x 4 tires with 15 x 5 tires to improve traction. They also replaced the Briggs & Stratton engine with the Ariens AX engine. Otherwise it is the same as last years 920014 model.

Is this blower a 0 degree turn.

Asked by Elijah August 17, 2014

Not sure exactly what you mean by 0 degree turn but I can get this to pivot sort of like you would pivot a lawnmower. Takes a little more umph to do it because this is a lot heavier than a lawn mower and you also need to turn the chute. You can operate this with one hand so I've mastered the pivot turn and rotate the chute in one relatively easy maneuver but it will take some practice.

Has anyone tried pulling this model up a few stairs?

Asked by Prebop June 25, 2014

I came home after 6 one evening and found my brand new 24" compact Arien delivered from HD parked on my back porch; 3 steps up from the ground! No big deal. I got my 2 2x8 wood ramps and just pulled it down. I'll never put it back there again, though.

Have these ever gone on sale? I am waiting for a deal to buy one.

Asked by IV March 8, 2014

Home Depot has the best price .looked at lots of dealers .

how do I know if impeller is turning fast enough or is belt broken?

Asked by william March 6, 2014

your auger blade will not move as fast as your impeller blade.

Can I purchase just the engine?

Asked by Buck March 3, 2014

you need to contact Briggs and Straton and ask that

Is the height of the handlebars adjustable to the height of operator?

Asked by bajashooter1 February 20, 2014

I checked mine to be sure, but there is no adjustment for the handlebars. They are bolted in a fixed position.

This Snow Blower worked very well during the recent storms.
I was extremely satisfied with how this Snow Blower handled the recent storms we had. It is very easy to use and had no problems with moving the snow even at the end of the driveway where the plows piled up the snow. I would recommend this Ariens Snow Blower.

Great unit
I've had this for a month now and it had tackled all of the snow we have gotten lately. This is a great snow blower an I really like that it has a metal auger and shoot. The distance that this throws snow is crazy. I would recommend this unit for anyone looking for a snow blower.

This blower does a great job.
By adjusting the speed, it does a great job even in deep snow. It blows the snow a good distant. It is very easy to start.

I just bought this snow blower about 3 weeks ago and it was great at first. This snowstorm today created an issue. The snow is moist and pretty heavy and I tried to use the blower to remove the snow from my sidewalk and it didn't work because, instead of the blades chopping the snow up, it kept getting clogged up in the blades on the left side which made the blower want to ride up the snow like a ramp. This is because the blades on the right are power blades that are directly connected to the drive shaft but the blades on the left side are just free flowing. This was very disappointing to me because the snow blower cost over $800 and it was classified as a "Heavy Duty" snow blower and it turns out that this blower cannot handle the "Heavy Duty" jobs. I'm sure this blower will do me plenty of justice with the light duty jobs like powder type snow but it definitely should not be classified as "Heavy Duty." Knowing what I know now, I would not have spent over $400-$500 for this blower. Well, hopefully mother nature will only send powder snow from now on, although I have no problem with shoveling the powder. I have issues with my back from my 10 year career in the military, which is why I bought a, so called, "Heavy Duty" snow blower. I feel like I wasn't my time and money on this blower.

Great product at a great price!
After doing extensive research, I bought the Ariens compact fo my first snow blower. The item was delivered to my house completely assembled. The delivering company demonstated how to use the machine and stayed until they were confident that I knew what I was doing. We have had two storms and the Ariens has passed with flying colors. The first storm was about 10 inches of thick snow. The second was only about 6 inches, but it was extremely heavy... more like slush than snow. I was able to clear our 35 yard driveway quickly, throwing the snow between 20 and 40 feet. Now I can't wait for the next snow storm!

This snow thrower is a monster.
This snow thrower is a monster. Gets through everything we've put it through. No problem cleaning up the end of the driveway after the road plows have gone by. We use this to do our entire road and then some. The electric start works well and the pull start is much easier then most chainsaws I have had to pull start. The controls take a little getting used to but once you are used to them they become like second nature

Great snowblower
Very easy to put together. Make sure you do every step. I skipped one and had to start over. Easy to start. The blades have frozen up a couple times when it's not in use, but it's also been -20 most days since we've had it.

Ariens 24 Compact
I recently purchased a house that has a significant grade to the driveway. I was nervous as the winter approached that I'd never be able to get out of my driveway so I purchased the Ariens Compact 24. I also purchased the non-abrasive skid shoes, spare shear pins, and the tire chains (in case the incline was too much). I have had no problems getting out of my driveway all winter! We've had a near record setting year for snow fall where I'm at also. The snow blower has no problem (without the chains) making it up my driveway, it has plenty of power to move 6-7 inches of snow with no effort. The 6 forward speeds make it easy to find the right speed for the conditions. I like that you can adjust the chute deflector on the fly to make sure the snow is going where you want it to. I have not used the electric start feature yet as the engine has started every time with one easy pull. I have no problem clearing 2000 sq ft of driveway with this snow blower in 30 mins or so. My fiance is a smaller than average girl, and has had success with using this as well. She does tend to get warn out faster than me as the snow blower is a little heavy for her to man-handle on the incline. All in all a positive experience, and a great product.

Easy work - no more aching back
After 10 years of holding out, I decided to invest in a snowblower this year. So far I have used it four times and don't know why I waited so long to buy one. It makes easy work of my driveway (100x25) and my back appreciates it. This unit is easy to control and operate - it starts right up even with the manual start. Only took one try to get the hang of it. Compact and light, it stores nicely in my shed. I would highly recommend it.
