You can place your Arlo camera a maximum of 300 feet (90 meters) from the SmartHub or base station. The maximum line-of-sight range of 300 feet is reduced by each wall, ceiling, or other major obstruction between the camera and base station.

I have had mine installed for a week now and its gone down 5% battery life. I have the solar panel on another camera and its fully charged every day.

If you want this because it's wireless, that's cute. It's ok for that. Note that the battery will die in ~ 1 week if you actually want to use it on the quality settings, which obviously you do. I got these cameras because they synch with Apple homekit, and they do that, which is nice and the homekit app is better than the Arlo app. I have these wired so that I can keep them charging, which I found to be essential. The single issue I have with the system is that it has major skips in playback and you can't actually see the full recording unless you have a ridiculously expensive plan to do so. As noted in the image below, which I think is Hilariously bad. Note that, the inflation of this slide in my backyard that's 20' tall was not recorded though my wife taking a picture of it was.

A high-speed Internet connection to sustain the following average bandwidth use per camera:
Arlo Ultra cameras: 3 Mbps upload per camera
Arlo Pro 3 and Video Doorbell: 2 Mbps upload per camera
All other Arlo cameras: 1 Mbps upload per camera
An Internet router with an available Ethernet port if you are using an Arlo SmartHub or base station.
Arlo works with the minimum requirements, but the functionality and video quality might be negatively affected. With a lower upstream bandwidth, there is a greater possibility that video quality might be pixelated and unclear. You might also experience a delay in starting a live stream. Also, please not that Arlo cameras detect motion best when the motion is from side to side, not coming head on. Please ensure that side-to-side traffic crosses Arlo's field of view. Arlo's motion sensor is much more sensitive to side-to-side movement across its field of view than to movement directly toward or away from the camera. Installation was direct, all done through the cellphone app, though it took me a little while (about 15 minutes) to get the cameras connected. I’d say the setup was not intuitive, so it helps if you’re reasonably tech-savvy. Once connected, the app is a little more intuitive, but still complex. I like the choices for activating the motion detection, especially the ‘geo-referencing’ choice. Using geo-referencing, the motion detection is active once your cellphone is outside of a radius from your smart hub. It sounds more complicated than it is. You can also set up phone calls to e911 or a friend’s phone (perhaps a neighbor?) when motion is detected. By default, I believe the video recordings are stored in a cloud account (which after a 3-month trial, you must pay for—but I don’t see how much the service costs). I also haven’t seen how you can download or share any video recordings from the Arlo cloud account (if I knew how to, I’d include a video in this review). Alternatively, you can insert an SD card into the smart hub and store the recordings locally. The cameras (both Arlo Pro 3) are indoor/outdoor, both UV and weather resistant. The video quality is certainly acceptable, and there are several features you can toggle on/of (e.g., audio, motion zones). According to the packaging supplied, the cameras’ charges are supposed to last 6 months, and recharging is simple and very quick with a specific proprietary charging cord (just don’t misplace the charging cord). It will take quite a while to learn all the features and options available, as there are several that appear buried in the cellphone app settings. But the immediate setup and defaults will suffice for most general home security needs.

The Arlo Pro 3 -2k wire free security 2 camera system in white is a very convenient home security camera system for the novice homeowner. It is fairly easy to install and it is easy to maintain . It does tend to go off constantly with any movement , Our cats set it off , cars going by on the road set it off , You can set up a zone for it to view , but it still tends to cover a much wider area than you would expect. . We have had to move one camera a couple of times to stop a lot of the false pictures because of our cats constantly setting it off and having to recharge the batteries . You do have to pay 2.99 per month per camera when you only get the two camera set for cloud storage, If you get a larger set you can get up to 5 cameras for 9.99 at current rates . All directions for install are on the ARLO app you download . I would advise cloud storage as the cameras can be easily removed and taken there is no security if they are within reach . 2nd submission . not sure what happen to my first one

I have tried several different cameras and this one seems to be the best so far in picture quality. It comes with 2 arlo pro 3 cameras,2 rechargeable batteries, 1 power adapter,1 magnetic charging cable,2 wall mounts with hardware,1 smart hub,1 ethernet cable1 quick start guide and a video monitoring guide. It has color night vision which is nice. A very bright spotlight and a siren that is really high pitched and loud. Two way audio that works really well. Setup was pretty simple just download the app and follow easy to follow directions. Charging the battery is simple it has a magnetic charger just stick it onto the camera and it charges it up in no time. They seem to be built really well. Unfortunately you have to subscribe to a cloud storage plan. They pretty all have that so I guess you don't have much choice. $3 a month per camera. You get 30 day free trial. I am pretty happy with them

What's in the box: two cameras, two mounting plates (one screws into the back of the camera and the other is a strong magnet that holds onto the back of the camera), charging cable (USB and plug-in), 2 batteries, ethernet cable, and hub + power cord. There are no instructions but the app will guide you through the easy process of getting everything set up. Picture quality: daylight picture quality is excellent. Crisp and sharp. Night picture quality isn't the best. There is a small spotlight on the camera that you have the ability to change the setting on in the app. I have mine on to always turn on when the camera is triggered. Still, there's just not enough light to illuminate the area to get a decent night shot. The only way you can get a better quality view is to have a separate spotlight/floodlight trigger. There's one above my backdoor and I noticed the picture quality was super clear when that turned on. Because of the poor quality, I took my rating down two stars because night time is when cars get broken into, things from your yard get stolen, etc. I really wanted to have a decent nighttime picture quality because of that. Motion trigger: I find that it's pretty sensitive, which to me isn't entirely bad. In the case of my backyard, the neighbor's tree near my shed will trip the camera if the wind blows the branches - that's with setting the trigger perimeter pretty far out. The camera will record for about 30 seconds before turning off if it doesn't sense constant movement. But it will turn on again quickly if something moves. I have squirrels that come by and trigger it most days. Battery life: After using my camera for about a week. It's really held it's charge. I didn't fully charge it before installing it, I'll admit it. I was eager to use it so I just put it up. At the time, the battery was at about 50% and right now it's at 47% after taking around 50+ video captures. The app: Using the app is super easy and allows complete control. I like that you can get a live view without having it automatically record what you're looking at. Instead, you have the option to record or even snap a photo. And deleting your files is easy, unlike another brand's app that I have for my doorbell. Overall, I'm very happy with it for all it's features and the quality of the daylight view, but the night view is disappointingly poor. I will still recommend it because you can supplement the camera with a separate spotlight.

You want a camera. You want it to be wire-free. Quality components, weather-resistant, color night vision, precise image quality, mounting options, object-specific [ people, cars, animals, etc..]. Live view, 2-way audio, siren, notifications to your phone, tablet, or even your PC. Plus, more options. You found it. The ARLO PRO 3-- 2 camera system with a base station. The first picture below, all the components. The first thing I did was charge the batteries. Second, choose a mounting location, you have two different mounts included, or as you can see, from the pics below, there are aftermarket options. Next install the base, pretty cut and dry. I installed one camera over the garage, front view, and a second in the back in the center of the lanai. One big issue is battery life. For the front camera, I purchased a 25- foot charging cable. For the back camera, I ran 45 feet of 14/2 w/grd. wire and installed a receptacle in the lanai ceiling. Both batteries stay fully charged, this allows me to utilize more options that would normally drain the battery very quickly. 2k "live view" is impressive. I loaded the APP onto a tablet and also my desktop PC. There is a definite learning curve, to the point of the app being erratic and inconsistent. The base station has a USB port for a flash drive, have not tried this yet. Wondered why there was not much documentation [ a manual ] in the box. The Arlo Pro 3 manual is online, it is 76 Pages. This is not an "entry-level" system. You may not think you need all the options today that this camera system offers but as you progress you will probably wish you had them. If battery life is a concern, you may want to look at a solar panel for battery charging. Or an upgrade to Arlo's extended life battery. Once you learn this system and how to utilize the options for day to day use, this can be a valuable tool for safety and security.

Very easy setup, although you need a free ethernet port on your home router. Basically, you download the Arlo app and follow the instructions for setup, including attaching to the router and powering up, using the app to find the homebase and then possibly updating the firmware (took 5 minutes), then adding the rechargeable battery to the camera and adding it as a component on the app. The included free trial didn't ask for any payment at this point (which is a plus). In the daytime, the camera view is very clear (see photo); can't wait to see how it performs at night in the darkness.

First of all this is super easy to install! They're discreet looking as well. If you put them under your awning or whatnot you barely notice them. There is a few different settings you can put the video on and you can adjust it so it's super detailed but uses more battery or a lower detailed view. There's an in-between setting also. I honestly don't notice a difference in how long the battery lasts which is approximately 24 hours though they charge pretty fast. There is a difference in the amount of detail though. 2k is the best. You can set up different points on screen where you want the camera to focus on although if something is moving it will zoom in on it anyway if in the right setting. It's really sensitive to sound so if it isn't placed just right you'll get a notification every time the wind blows. Literally. There is also the option of speaking to whomever is outside and you can be heard well. There's an option of hitting a siren, call e911, or calling a friend in an emergency which is quite handy. The siren is plenty loud to scare someone away. It's got a great range of view as well as picks up voices from a couple houses over across the street. My only complaints really is battery life. Other than that it's great! Very pleased.

I had wanted security cameras in my home for a long time, but due to wiring issues, I was unable to…until now! I love the convenience of having wireless cameras - I could install them almost anywhere with WIFI, indoors or out. They work best with a smartphone (not sure if there is even an alternative), because you need the Arlo app to monitor, sync, and change any camera settings. The feed is good, and there are functions like live feed, microphone, and setting off the alarm. The video on the phone is very clear, and you can zoom in as well. With two cameras, I can monitor the front and the back of the house at the same time. They look very sleek and the base station is small enough to just add to your internet setup without much disruption. However, the base station is SUPER light and I wonder if they could have made it even smaller. The cameras light up when moved, so it is helpful with catching suspicious activity. The magnetic bases are super strong and I have no fear of them falling off. I gave this product 4 stars because the battery life is not the most efficient. After charging to a full 100%, it is currently at 87% after 2 days. I am hoping it’s not a constant chore to take the cameras down to recharge. A box comes with one charger and will have to do one after the other. The good thing is that the charger is also magnetic and you can just rest the camera for auto-charge. Overall, I think their main selling point is being wireless, without sacrificing quality, and if you have any wiring issues like I did, the arlo is a good camera to consider.

Nice hardware, excellent video, poor batteries, and mediocre app. The Arlo Pro 3 system is easy to set up, but requires the large phone app (177Mb for the app alone, 211Mb in use) before you do anything – all the instructions are in the app. The cameras are charged via a unique cable which uses magnets to engage the contacts on the camera, with standard USB on the other end, so rather than a standard USB-to-USB connector you have one MORE cable type to add to the growing collection. Cameras must be dismounted to charge, and the system comes with two types of mounts: a standard 3-axis gimbal type and a novel multi-position magnetic base that is actually more restrictive in terms of securely holding the camera in a desired position. The cameras include speaker, microphone and a siren – none of which are particularly loud or clear, but they work. Vidoe Sensitivity on the cameras is excellent at night and while they do not include infra-red LEDs for night vision, they have a motion-activated dimmable white-light LED that provides good illumination to about 30 ft. It allows allows color viewing at night. Motion detection works sporadically but I'm still adjusting sensitivity and activation zones. I can't seem to detect people on my boat dock without also detecting wave motion and reflections off the water as animals. The cameras can be directly linked to either the base station or the home WiFi network. The range between cameras and the base station is excellent – better than I get with direct WiFi between camera and router, but it's unclear what frequency or security protocols are used when connecting via the base station. There is no user capability to configure that link as far as I can determine. The Arlo app, used for this system and other Arlo cameras, is a weak point to me. It's hard to navigate, constantly logs off, and not intuitive to use. For example, try to turn off notifications for a particular camera or eject the (optional) USB drive from the base station to review video. I'm STILL trying to find that. Oddly enough, I also couldn't play any of the videos from the USB jump drive on my Windows PC – no Windows viewer would recognize the .MP4 format. My Mac had no trouble, so it's probably something on the PC. The biggest problem with these cameras is the battery. In just 4 days the battery on one camera has dropped to 41%. Admittedly this camera is furthest from the base station at about 150 ft but I've also disabled the LED and adjusted sensitivity to a low level. A closer camera is down to 72% in the same time period. That means less than 2 weeks between charges. As such these cameras are better suited for either temporary placement, or mounting in very easy to access locations. At the cost of this system that's a pretty inefficient use, even for cameras with such excellent video capability. If you absolutely NEED battery-powered surveillance cameras, these will work but there are better options available.
