Product Overview

RibbonFlex Pro Sure-Lock Connectors with Wire are used to make solder-less, secure connections between 2-LED strips at corners or for extending power wires to LED tape lighting in other areas. The connectors wire can be cut in half and additional wire spliced in to create 2-power leads ("jumper" cables) to go around, for example, a range hood, refrigerator, etc.
  • Easy to use, no soldering, tight, secure connections
  • Handles higher amperage, will not fail at higher wattages
  • Connects 8 mm wide white LED tape lighting requiring 2-wire connections, not for RGB LED tape lighting
  • Unique Armacost Lighting design, works on either end of LED strips
  • CE and RoHS compliant

Can a two connector work with a three pin light strip? I am having trouble finding three connector wire.

Asked by Helene September 19, 2020

Answer

Thanks for your interest in Armacost Lighting RibbonFlex PRO. No a two connector will not work with a three pin light strip. To reconnect a three pin light strip you most likely will need to solder wire onto the copper pads.

Do you have a two wire connector that that has the connectors designed to make a right angle turn?

Answer

Currently, the longest jumper cable we offer is our 48” SureLock extension connector, however, interconnects of any length can be made easily. Take a single one of these 8-inch Wire lead connectors and split it in half. Then, splice in your own supplemental wiring based on your needs using wire nuts, butt-splice connectors, or any other common wire-to-wire splice technique. Download the installation guide found on this product page for additional information.

Can this connector be used for outdoor lighting? If not, what should I use?

Asked by COKate July 7, 2017

Answer

No, this connector is not recommended for outdoor use. Soldering is usually the best option for your wire connections in outdoor applications, however, we do offer an outdoor rated connector option that is not yet available on homedepot.com. What is the Kelvin color temperature of the white LED?

Asked by roadwaves March 21, 2017
1
Answer

Armacost Lighting’s RibbonFlex Pro white lighting is available in 3000 Kelvin Warm White (homedepot.com item# 203227243), and our new 2700 Kelvin Soft White (homedepot.com item# 207159077). Other color temperatures are also available, but this connector can work with white or single-color lighting of any color temperature, provided it is 8mm wide, and has appropriate copper pad contacts.

Can this cable be used to connect the WW tape lights to the driver?

Asked by Randy August 21, 2016
1
Answer

Yes, this product can be used to make a power connection to a separate, cut section of RibbonFlex White tape lighting. Typically, you would cut the connecting wire in half, which would allow you to splice in enough 18-gauge, low-voltage wiring to bridge the gap between lighting sections. Or, you can use a our SureLock Extension connector (homedepot.com item# 206680253) which provides a 4' wire lead that spans many typical gaps without the need for additional wire. Alternatively, you can solder your connecting wiring directly to the copper pads on which the lighting is cut, just like the factory-made ends, and forego connectors completely. See this product's installation guide for information about making power connections with our SureLock Connectors: http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/56/569cf2e1-e2d5-49e5-9ece-00c52a3b003d.pdf or, check out our soldering tip sheet if you’d prefer a soldered connection: http://www.armacostlighting.com/documents/Soldering_RibbonFlex_Pro.pdf

Are there longer ones? 2-4ft?

Asked by Tcollett February 16, 2016

I did not see any longer connectors. I needed to span about 2 feet where I did not want lights so I used one of these connectors, cut it in half, and spliced in the exact amount of 18ga wire that I needed. It worked perfectly-just remember to maintain correct polarity.

Very easy install
I installed Armacost RGB LED strip with 3 knob color mixer and I am very pleased with it. The color range is practically endless and it is perfect for my patio. I can see myself ordering more products in the future. I would also recommend this lighting to anyone.

We used this to light a skylight shaft, and the effect is beautiful! Sent for extra corner connectors but they didn't fit, and were ultimately unnecessary. Good product. Would like to find other applications in our home. Improvement idea: a quick disconnect from transformer so whole length can be affixed rather than fed through small hole from transformer's hiding place.

FYI, if you're connecting a ribbon to a transformer, Armacost instructions are to cut this in half and you can connect one end to ribbon and the other end to bare wires (using wire nuts or soldering). The problem is that these are made so that even when one follows the instructions exactly on cutting the ribbon, it barely reaches the contacts in the connector. Breath on it and the lights go out. Just seems like a really poor design. All they had to do was make the contacts in the surefire connector a millilmeter longer, or put the plastic nub a millimeter over.

Originals that were included with Armacoat Ribbon lighting kit were terribly made, and would not stay locked. Ordered these after originals, and they worked perfectly. These should be included with your ribbon light kits. Very disappointed with original connectors.
