Answer This Question

Hi RJHa. Thank you for shopping at The Home Depot. According to the product description from the manufacturer, there are individual six-foot pieces that are 2 7/8 in diameter. Each box contains 180 lineal feet which works out to be 30 pieces that are 6-foot each. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Rick_HD_OC

The material in the carton is in 6' pieces. If there are 180 lineal feet per carton, there would be 30 pcs. in each carton.

    What is the ID measurement?
    ByOct 19, 2022

    Answer This Question

For the selected product the pipe covering size, or ID would be 1-1/8 inch. This item would fit a copper pipe with a 1-inch nominal ID, or an iron/pvc pipe with a 3/4-inch nominal ID.

This product does not have a precut seam. You can slit it with a sharp, non-serated knife. Item Number BST07820 is the comparable product with the precut seam and self adhesive closure system.

              Answer This Question

This insulation is ideal to protect pipes from freezing. However, it is important to install the appropriate thickness of the insulation. Thickness calculations can be done using the ArmWin Calculation Tool. http://www.armacell.us/knowledge-center/new-armwin-calculation-tool/ It can also be downloaded for use on a mobile device in your device's app store. If you need additional thickness, you can order that online or via the Special Order program at the stores. You can also multi-layer the insulation to achieve the adequate thickness. Just make sure all of your joints are sealed with Armacell 520 BLV Insulation Adhesive or Armaflex Insulating Tape. Both are sold in stores.

Two questions. What is the maximum pipe temperature and is this material pre-slit?
                    ByNov 10, 2017

                    Answer This Question

The upper temperature use for this product is 220F. This product is not pre-slit. You can slit it with a non serrated blade to cut the insulation open. Then use Armacell Insulation adhesive to seal the seam back.

Quality Control Needs to be Increased
When the insulation arrived it had tears in some spots. Mostly on the inside surface. I'm assuming the packaging department rams the cardboard tubes up the inside of these foam tubes without much care for what damage they cause to the tubes inside surface. Some tears were also discovered on the outside surface. They have a quality control problem. The material is difficult to cut cleanly without a brand new super sharp exacto knife. Even after cutting about half of the boxes materials, it seemed like I needed to swap in a new blade as I was already not getting clean cuts. The recommended glue, by the same manufacturer, to weld the seems back together again is not easy to work with either.
