My measurements are 120x191. How much tile do I need for pic above?

Answer

Good morning Sylvia. Thank you for reaching out to us with your question. Unfortunately, because we do not sell our products direct to consumers, I am unable to offer estimates of material needed for installation. I recommend consulting with a flooring associate at your local Home Depot, have your room dimensions with you and they should be able to assist you with the correct amount of flooring. We do recommend purchasing at least 5 extra tiles for every 100 purchased for cutting allowance. I apologize for any inconvenience. Have a great day.

What should I use to cut the tile

Good morning. Thank you for reaching out to us with your question. For cutting these tiles we recommend using a sharp utility knife. Sharp scissors could be an option, but you typically will not get as clean a cut with scissors as you will get with a utility knife. I hope this information is helpful. Have a great day.

Your surface needs to be flat and smooth. I would suggest that you put a thin sheet of plywood (underlayment) so the you have a smooth and level surface. You can attach the plywood to the tile with a construction grade adhesive. Otherwise, I would think that you would have to take the tile up.

Can you use this on garage floors

Asked by Patty September 23, 2018

Answers

Good afternoon Patty. Thank you for reaching out to us with your question. In order for flooring materials to be installed in residential or commercial garages, the flooring material must meet the International Residential Code R 309 for Garages and Carports for one and two family residential buildings or the International Building Code 406.2 for all other buildings. The codes outline garage floor surfaces shall be of approved non-combustible material. Armstrong flooring products do not meet these standards and therefore should not be installed in parking garage areas where vehicles will be parked on the surface of the Armstrong floor. In addition, Armstrong flooring should only be installed in temperature-controlled environments. Normally garages are not temperature-controlled areas. After installation, the temperature should be maintained at a minimum of 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Most garage floors have also had gas and oil dripped or spilled on them. This residue in the substrate will inhibit the new floor's adhesive from working properly. Automobile fluids (such as brake and transmission fluids, and also oil) if leaked onto the resilient flooring can seep into the joints of the tile and break down the adhesive; this would create a bonding issue and a possible installation failure. Additionally, the oils and antioxidants used in the manufacturing process of rubber tires will cause a permanent yellow discoloration to any vinyl flooring. Also, exposure to moisture from rain, snow, or sleet and varying temperatures will have a damaging affect on both tile and sheet flooring. As you can see, we cannot recommend the installation of our floors in a garage. I do apologize for any inconvenience. I hope this information is helpful. Have a great day.

The information on the box says that it does not contain any asbestos. The only caution is about the old floor that is being removed that it might contain asbestos.

What is the VOC level? I am sensitive to chemical smells.

I don't know what VOC level means. However, it has no chemical smell that I encountered. I installed it in a small area for my office and have had no odor issues.

Can I be sent a sample?

No samples I know of. This is really good looking tile, but kind of soft and heavy objects can cut through it when moved across without coasters or wheels. In my house. looks more grayish than bronzy and goes well with my med oak finished furniture and cabinets.

Pick up from Home Depot was easy. Liked pattern and texture and shine. I lost several squares due to corner breaking off. The ‘grout’ line is thinner material and more sensitive to handling. Adhesive distribution on back was uneven. I had to peel up and re-stick majority of square due to edges being loose, yet center stuck tight. Used a spray adhesive on second round.

Good afternoon. Thank you for taking the time to post a review of our product. We are sorry to hear that you are having an issue with this flooring. Yes, you do need to be careful with the thinner sections of the tile because too much of a bend can cause the tile to crack or break. If the tile was properly acclimated and installed over a clean, flat, smooth subfloor, and the tile was rolled after installation it should be sticking to the subfloor. If the flooring is peeling up in spots, you can warm the tile with a hair dryer to reactivate the adhesive and put some weight over the tile to hold it down until dry. If this does not work, we recommend having the store where the flooring was purchased file a claim on your behalf. Again, I do apologize for any inconvenience. Have a great day. Armstrong

Good morning. It is important for us to hear feedback from our customers, and we thank you for taking the time to post your review. We are very sorry you’ve had this experience. It is important when handling the tile to not bend them too much, because they can crack. If there were damaged tiles coming out of the carton, we recommend returning them to the store where they were purchased and having them replaced under the manufacturer's warranty. Again I apologize for any inconvenience. Have a great day. Armstrong

Tiles are very thin and the corners break very easily and I needed to use extra glue. With that being said they look very nice and they were fairly easy on my budget.

The product does not stick to the floor. We purchase glue to help but the corners still lift off the floor. It will work for now, but I already have plans to cover the floor with something different in a couple months. Disappointed because I loved the look of the tile.

Very nice looking tiles however very disappointed in the quality, specifically with the adhesion of the glue. There were numerous tiles that kept lifting up in the corners or the edges after I had put them down and this was not what I expected to deal with. Ended up having to lift these tiles slightly so I could apply some glue and then put something heavy on them to ensure they would stay put.
