A:  Hello, The Arrow stapler puller was designed to reach into as small as a 5/16-inch wide staple for lifting; this tool does have 2 prongs, each prong measuring 1/8" wide. We do not recommend using this staple lifter for pulling 1/8" wide staples. We hope this helps! - Your Arrow Fastener Team

A:  Hey Chris, our staple puller can reach into as small as a 5/16-inch-wide staple for lifting, so it should work great if the staples are within that width size. A:  Yes. That’s why I bought mine. My honey-do list included repairing a few dining room chairs. So I had to remove and replace the fabric. It worked perfectly without puncturing the fabric.

A:  I have never had to remove upholstery staples, so I'm not positive about it, but I imagine that it would.

A:  Hello, there. Thanks for your question! The SL24D Staple Puller tip can work with staples as small as 5/16-inch-wide. As long as the staple you are pulling is within that range, this would be a good choice for you. This staple remover works well, not quite for heavy duty work. I had to reupholster 4 dinning room chairs, each chair had numerous factory staples to remove. It was 50-50 on being able to get the tool under the dug in staples and then actually pull them out. If anything, it would pull only one side of the staple out. Keep in mind, these chairs had the original, factory installed (probably with a pneumatic industrial stapler) staples on fabric and wood. I can see it very useful in other projects, the handle is very comfortable and it is made sturdy. Trust me, if I didn't break it , it is well made!

                          This Tool Is A Beast!
This little staple puller is a BEAST! I am currently recovering the window boxes in our motorcoach and of course there are fifty billion staples! I have pulled TONS of staples from just two boxes without fail. The teeth (prongs) are strong and help pull even the toughest of staples. The handle is super comfortable and ergonomically shaped amd great even with my small hands I am very pleased and this may as well be the best invention since the wheel, lol. Cant beat the tool for the price!

A must-have for removing deeply embedded staples. We refurbished our dining room chairs. This required pulling a LOT of small upholstery staples which were deeply embedded in the fabric and hardwood frame. My usual approach is to use a small, flat-blade screwdriver to get under the staple and lift them, then pull them with needle-nose pliers. But because these were small and deep-set, it didn’t work well. So I tried the “Arrow Fastener Staple Puller” and it made a huge difference. It was more comfortable than the screwdriver, got under the staples better, and was less likely to slip and do damage to the upholstery on the chairs. Perhaps most impressively my wife was able to use it! She’s quite competent with tools, but small hands and arthritis would typically make such a task impossible. But she got going and pulled the staples from all six chairs. Most staples came out whole, but a few still required needle-nose pliers - not too surprising. 100’s of staples later there was no sign that the tool tip would bend or wear out. Ironically the staple lifter might be better for small hands. I have average sized man’s hands and I found the turned up “tail” of the handle dug into the heel of my hand when digging in on deep set staples. This became irritating after a while. Wearing work gloves would help. Important note: Apparently Arrow has “improved” the device, adding a fork/notch in the tip so it can also lift small nails or brads. Ours is the older model, suitable only for staples. Refer to the pics for the differences, read the reviews on the newer model, and choose carefully. Recommended Model # SL24D

Yes, the product I received was packaged as an Arrow #SL24D. However, it is nothing like the product pictured here and at the Arrow website. (I've included a photo that shows what I received.) This tool was completely ineffectual at removing staples. The double-pronged design of the tool I received is awful. It might be a great tool for removing nails, but it's not the right tool to remove staples.
