AnswersWe used it in the length it came. Since it is metal I would assume it should be able to be cut with a standard tube cutter. The finials just pop on and off, so they should be able to be attached to your cut ends. We are very happy with this rod.
Is the rod itself 8 ft and the finals are added to the 8 ft measurement? Or do the finials add to the 8 ft measurement?

AnswerHi I don't think they will do it but it is dimple. Cover the area to be cut with masking tape. Use a pipe cutter. It will take five minutes.

This 8 ft rod came in one piece so there was no connecting point or bump to snag our grommet style curtains. It's a light weight but sturdy metal rod that looks very nice. We hung it over our patio door that's approximately 6 ft wide and even though the rod was a little too wide, we decided to leave it at it's original length rather than trimming it down since the extra length didn't bother us. There were no installation instructions included in the packaging but we found some on Home Depot's website under Info/Assembly on the product page. The instructions include directions on how to trim down the rod with a hack saw or pipe cutter if you need it to be shorter. The 8 ft length came with 3 brackets and we chose to install the middle support bracket in case we hang heavier curtains in the winter, but it seems sturdy enough to hold our lighter blackout curtains without sagging even if the middle bracket wasn't there. The finials screw into plastic plugs at the ends of the rods and look very nice and should be easy to unscrew if we need to change or wash the curtains later.
