If the insect flies, yes, the zapper will electrocute it. The ultra violet light attracts the insect. The screen, which is wired to electricity, kills the flying insect upon contact. Yes, and pretty effectively. We use ours mainly while we sleep to kill the occasional mosquito that gets in during the day, but some unlucky moths have also ventured in. It works well with pretty much all flying insects attracted to light.

Zapper has instructions in the package when you receive it. That said, you must have discarded the instructions. Turn the unit off. Unplug the power cord. Wait 1 hour before proceeding; the electrical grid has to drain of power. Lay the unit face down, backside up on a flat surface. The back mesh/safety panel is spring-loaded on the bottom. Pull the mesh toward the bottom while the prongs at the top exit the groove and lift the mesh out. Gently remove the bulb(s) as you would a flourescent light from it's fixture. Insert the new bulb(s). Insert the mesh, bottom first; making sure the top prongs get inserted into the top groove. Insert the plug to the receptacle power source; and, turn the unit on.
