A: Birds will use the "leaves" as mini bird baths. If your water is deep this can be safer for them.

A: I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work with a small, solar water-pump. Upwards distance from pump is about 14 - 16 inches, at most.

A: I used a very small pump - rated at 48 cubic feet per minute, and adjusted the flow downwards. Anything larger would create serious splashing issues if it’s for a small indoor fountain. Some people like the sound of water splashing, but I added some small red volcanic rocks to decrease both noise and splashing issues.

fits my area nicely

I have a large waterfall I don't run all the time. I wanted something that I can have on at all times to keep the water moving. Fits my area nicely. I got a 90 gph pump for it.
