Questions & Answers

Is this membrane waterproof?

Asked by Kay September 16, 2020

The non-woven underlayment is not waterproof like PVC pond liners. The underlayment is used as a protective barrier between the waterproof PVC pond liner and sharp rocks, gravel and other debris. Thanks,

Is this avalable in store and whare

Asked by Tom August 14, 2020

Beckett 7202510 (UL612) 6 X 12 ft underlayment is available in some Home Depot stores, HD sku is 576017 or it is available also at HD.com as their on line sku 100001948. Best Regards Kirsi

Will this work for a swim pool ground cover?

Asked by jay April 29, 2020

Yes it will, a pond underlayment will also double has a pool underlayment.

My pond liner is a 10 by 13 what size underlayment do I need

Asked by Reese April 20, 2020

The size needed really depends on the size of your pond. As a minimum you should have enough to fit under the entire length and width of your liner.

How much does this weigh, I need to carry it on a plane.

Asked by Molly November 28, 2018

Oh! It's weight would be directly proportional to its size. It isn't real weighty, but my project was small. Not as heavy as a cotton towel size for size. More like a sweater would weigh for a piece the size of a towel.

Will this work as a weed barrier in my garden?

Asked by George December 5, 2016

I would NOT use this material for a weed barrier. I do not use weed barrier. It is more hassle than help. Weed and grass seed grows into ANY barrier material and very soon you have a dense layer of weeds and or grass that cannot be dug out with a shovel or any tool. Disaster! This material is not suited for anything other than underlayment for pond liner in my humble opinion.

How thick is it, and is the surface smooth?

Asked by Lon November 14, 2015

It's thick enough to be a good pond liner. It is not smooth, it's like an industrial felt.

Is this fiborus? will it allow water to pass through. planning to use under deck to prevent weeds

Asked by Chummydj September 2, 2015

It is fiberous, but I think it would NOT be a good match for your project. I would not use it for any situation where is is exposed to the elements. It is designed to cushion pond a liner. That is its intended function.

Is this a rubber basd material? Felt? slippery or anti-slip? Thanks

Asked by needy June 7, 2015

Not at all rubbery or water tight! Felt. Not slippery.

do I really need this to build a little river into my patio

Asked by Anita May 18, 2015

Yes if you wanted to last for more than 20 years this product goes under the pond liner or use it to prevent weeds from growing between your rocks

Pond Liner Underlayment
The underlayment was as advertised. It did a good job of providing a cushion for the pond liner. However a cheaper solution would be to buy the ground cover cloth sold by Home Depot and double it over. The doubled layer of ground cloth results in about the same thickness as a single layer of underlayment, costs less, and covers more.

Tentatively, good. It was easy to spread out. I put it under an EPDM pond liner after finding micro leaks in it. I believe those were the result of moles inadvertently picking at it whilst digging tunnels and that this will insulate it from them. I'll know more in 10 years.
