I have a 6 by 5 by 2 waterfall pond and use this on occasion when I have a buildup of algae. My biggest issues in my pond is algae growth and the water getting cloudy and a bit smelly from debris, such as leaves, falling into the pond and starting to decay, along with the frog’s contribution as well. I have a number of water plants in the pond (i.e. water lilies, water lettuce and lily pads). I don’t have fish in the pond but I do have frogs that have decided to make this regular tad pole breeding grounds. I don’t want to hurt them or my plants so I have tried a variety of products for the water.
Some algaecides that I have tried in past years unfortunately killed the tadpoles and or harmed my water plants and some have worked better than others. I usually used a natural bacterial product most of the time for keeping the pond clean but if I don’t use it weekly, I sometimes get algae that I need to take stronger measures for. This is the one algaecide that I have never had any issues with it damaging my water plants or killing the wildlife living in the pond. The key of course is to follow the directions and not use too much and use the appropriate amount depending on the volume of water. It also helps to circulate the water after putting in the algaecide. I use my pond pump for a few hours after application.
This works well at killing any green algae and preventing any new algae in the pond without harming the water plants or tadpoles. I don’t have fish but as long as you use it appropriately, the fish should be fine.
