Decided to try this, big mistake. First they don't have satin in stock, but I figure semi gloss may be close and I can finish with satin poly is the sheen is off. This semi is a HIGH GLOSS and it drys scrape-able. The other paint did not. The other paint lays down a professional finish. I pity anyone who used this to spray cabinets. Run to the other store. Behr get your act together and copy competitors 4000 series oil base. I would not recommend.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Takes forever to cure I have used Behr exterior latex to paint my entire home in the past and it was one of the best paints I ever used. However, for interior trim I wanted the hard enamel finish I feel only an oil base paint can provide. I was painting kitchen cabinets. I realize they say "do not use on horizontal surfaces". I did take the doors down and paint them on a bench. But the paint will not "cure". I say that as the outside coating will "dry" (skin over) within 24 hours. However, even weeks later you can still press on the painted surface and leave a finger print or even a dent in the paint. A week. Two weeks. Even three weeks later. It is as though the outside surface dries quickly and seals the oils underneath from being able to "evaporate" and fully cure. If I barely brushed on a coat of paint which I tried thinning, and I dried the doors in a hot (almost 80 degrees from an external heater), I could get the doors to cure within a week. But any coat thicker than the thinnest coat, or just a normal environment (70 degree home), I could not get the paint to solidly cure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old Time Beauty!!! Non professional opinion here.... A good while back, I built a traditional tool chest out of pine. I waited and waited to put a paint finish on it because I wanted an old time looking and durable oil paint on it. The modern latex paints, while great for most household uses, just didn't satisfy me for this old school tool chest. Glad I waited. My local Home Depot started stocking this paint. I paid less than $15 for a quart, compared to the Marquee high price for a similar quart. I've used Marquee plenty, by the way. Excited to use it, I put on a non-Home Depot brand high quality oil primer. After letting it dry for two days, I applied a coat of this Behr oil paint and was IMMEDIATELY pleased beyond words. A lot of the negative reviews are accurate, not necessarily negative, though. It's very thick. It leaves brush marks. It dries slowly. Blah blah blah. This is an oil paint, people. It's not going to behave exactly like a modern latex and much less like a HVLP sprayer paint finish. In one coat, the blue-green oil paint COMPLETELY covered the white oil primer. If you don't want brush marks, then spray the paint. If you want it to dry quickly, then use latex. Anything else is analogous to attempting to stain pine to look like walnut. Word of advice for first timers: paint slowly. Move the brush slowly. With a high quality brush, it will load up plenty and a slow touch will unload it perfectly. Cleaning, of course, isn't as easy or convenient, and the odor is really obnoxious. But that comes with the use of oil paint. I'd paint all the wood trim in my house with this if it didn't smell so bad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kitchen Cabinets I painted my kitchen cabinets with this paint. I had to thin it some because I sprayed them with a wagner power sprayer.. Great value for the money and great coverage. The paint is scrubable, which is a must for white kitchen cabinets and grand babies... I love this paint will use to paint any furniture that I paint in the future........wonderful stuff. Absoulutely love it... You can have it tinted in any color you want. I will say you need to wear a face mask, it smells strong but really worth it. I only had to do two coats lightly and they turned out perfect. It leveled its self also... Well, I hope this helps you ladies out that take on the job of painting your cabinets or anything else. Mine were a dark wood tone, and still 2 light coats. Great stuff. Will use again.........

After spending nearly 26 hours in prep work, I had to redo the job because this paint stays soft to the touch weeks after painting. Behr produces some of the best paints in the market, so I'm baffled with this product. If your application calls for considerable handling like cabinet drawers, Behr has other paints that will dry hard to the touch.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very sticky, hard to work with. Very sticky/tacky paint. Took over 24 hours to dry, I ended up using a dehumidifier to speed up the process. The paint overall was hard to work with. When using an oil paint, I'm looking for a product that glides on, there was no glide in this. In fact, at times it felt like I was working with glue, making coverage difficult. I do not recommend this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sealent I love this product! I use this on a variety of outdoor wood signs I make. It seals in my paint and vinyl nicely without leaving a yellow tint like some products. The only complaint I have is it takes a bit longer to dry. I stick with it though because the finished product with a TRUE clear gloss is worth the wait. Guess you can't rush perfection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great paint for people that aren't impatient. Notice that the negative reviews are about the paint drying times. These are from inexperienced painters that didn't read the label. This paint is awesome if you let it dry. Take a vacation before handling this paint. The label says 7 days before even wiping and 24 hrs for re-coat. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
