Q:Can this paint be sprayed? Can it be thinned?
by|May 19, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Hi Lawzy, thanks for the question. Our Urethane Alkyd Enamel can be sprayed. We recommend using an airless sprayer with a .013"-.017" spray tip and a 60 mesh filter. We don't recommend thinning the paint. Have a great day! -Ronald

Q:Do you have to use a polyurethane top coat, or is the paint durable enough without it?
    by|May 10, 2024

    Answer This Question

A:  Hi Jerry, thanks for your question. No, our Urethane Alkyd Enamel Paint does not require a clear topcoat, as it's designed to provide exceptional durability on its own. However, if you want, you can apply a water-based polyurethane over this paint for added protection. Have a great day! -Christina

Q:can this be used o PVC trim in a bathroom and if not what would you reccommend

      Answer This Question

A:  Hi Neal, thanks for the question. For painting over PVC, since it's a smooth, glossy surface, I'd recommend priming it first with our Bonding Primer. The primer is designed to adhere to hard-to-paint surfaces. After priming, you can use our Urethane Alkyd Enamel to paint it. Have a great day! -Ronald

Q:After 24 hours the paint is still a little tacky. Is it okay to recoat while still tacky? I the conditions were 70 degrees with 52% humidity and in full sunlight.

        Answer This Question

A:  Hi Pilot, thanks for the question, If the paint is slightly tacky, you can go ahead and apply another coat of paint. After applying the final coat, if the paint is still tacky after a few days, I'd recommend lightly cleaning the surface with soap and water, and that should remove any lingering tackiness. If you have any other questions, please reach out to us directly; our customer care team is happy to help you! -Ronald

i want to love this paint
I really want to love this paint it does go on well but it has been 3 weeks and still not dry, i really think it has to do with how humid it is in your house. I called behr and they said to wipe down with a mild detergent and that helped some but still tacky. Hope it dries i dont want to redo cabinets i spent days sanding down to bare wood and applying 2 coats of oil base primer.

Doesn't even come close to Benjamin Moore's Alkyd
On 2019 I painted all the trim and doors in my house using Benjamin Moore Alkyd paint. It is May 2024 and I just bought this paint to refresh my dining room set frame and legs. Oh boy, what a mistake. This paint dries to the touch in about the same time the Benjamin does, however it doesn't really dries completely. It has been 3 days and it still not completely dry, the Benjamin was rock solid the very next day. Next time I will spend the extra $$$ and get Benjamin again.

Hi Joel, thank you for your review. I'm so sorry to hear about your poor experience with our Urethane Alkyd Enamel, especially compared to your previous results with a similar product. Our Urethane Alkyd Enamel is designed to dry to the touch in about 4 hours and will be fully cured after about 7 days. We recommend being gentle on the coating while it's curing to avoid any touch-ups. Nonetheless, your satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. Please reach out to us directly if you need further assistance; our Customer Care team is happy to help! -Lina Behr

                Rich color
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I always swing by the oops paint at home Depot and I'm a little to excited when I see this kind. So durable. I've gotten a couple different oops sample colors. It's a good way to try out different kinds of paint. The oops paint tend to be brighter colored. Like someone was trying to live on the edge but was like I can't. I use it for a pop of color inside drawers, cabinets etc. Anyways hands down my favorite paint.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have been remodeling our entire home and I use Behr for everything I can. I love that you can tint this paint to the exact color you want. Now our interior trim and doors match the exterior trim work and new doors. I could not be happier!
