Is this good for a small bathroom?

Asked by: Neavesnest
Marquee is great for any interior room. I'd recommend a glossier sheen for a bathroom, e.g. semi-gloss.

Customer Reviews

1 gal. #N510-3 Stargazer One-Coat Hide Eggshell Enamel Interior Paint and Primer in One is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 5428.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Coverage I was painting a 24 ft x 16 ft room that was painted red. I chose a Mushroom color and I was sure I that I would have to prime and do 2 coats of paint. I did some research on the Marquee brand and went to speak with the Home Depot paint person. He guaranteed that one coat of Marquee would do the job. If it did not they would give me another gallon free to finish the job. As I was applying the paint I was amazed that it did look like it was working as promised. The next morning I went around the room with a bright work light and it did cover in ONE coat using the entire gallon on this job. I am impressed? Once I got going I made sure to cover the roller good each time I dipped. Roll on as explained any good instructions tell you but don't over roll. Lighten the pressure as the paint covers and roll it out to get a great finish. I did this whole room with one gallon at about $42, a great deal. Getting ready to do a couple more rooms and this will be my paint to use.

I have been painting for years and this is the 1st time I have had an issue like this...The paint was drying almost immediately. When cutting in around molding and corners, I had to paint very quickly and could not go back and touch up any spots until the paint was completely dry, otherwise it would clump up and pull the 1st coat off of the wall. I attempted to roll one wall and the paint was going on very thick. Within minutes the paint was drying and at the same time dripping/sagging down the wall. I could not go back and try to fix it or re-roll the area because it would just pull the existing coat off of the wall and make it even worse, I am attaching pictures to show the result. I have had to scrape/sand/spackle the entire wall and repaint. I will never purchase any Behr products again...what a waste of time and money.

I was covering a dark green with a pale blue and required a second coat. Behr honored the claim and for that reason, I felt much better about the experience. I tried both 3/8 and 1/2 nap rollers and still found issues. The tech at HD recommended the 1/2 and I agree with their assessment. It was a little better but still needed to have 2 coats. After the 2nd coat, the paint looks stunning! Getting a "Good" rating because the end result looks great and Behr worked with me on a customer support basis. They were very good. It didn't get "Excellent" because I still needed 2 coats. Other paints may have required 3. Author's note: I appears that these paints have special color pallets. We went with a standard but inquired about custom matching. The local HD indicated the Marquee was best for custom matching- or at least there were better options for custom. Please inquire before trying to match a prior painted surface.

I usually purchase the Ultra and decided to try the Marquee. I brought the paint home, stirred it and began cutting in around trim and doors. I stirred it and poured it into paint tray and used the roller the associate at Home Depot had told me I should use. I rolled the paint on the two walls and by the time I finished the second wall I noticed the paint was running. I’ve never had this problem from paint. I used my brush and roller trying to smooth out the runs and sags. After it had dried, it looked awful!! Anywhere I had brushed on the paint was a completely different shade than what was rolled on. The brush was new as well as the roller. The walls were clean and no residue of any kind. The paint had been stirred often. I took the paint back and the same associate said the paint seemed thin and refunded my money. She then mixed up a can of the Ultra in same shade. The only other time I used the Marquee it did the exact same thing. I do NOT recommend this line of Behr paint. The associate told me she would have the Behr rep look at the paint himself. She was nice and very helpful. However, I will never buy the Marquee again.

I saw the display for Marquee one coat and though great! I already had found a color I wanted by Behr "Cottage White" I purchased a gallon for a 200 sq ft room. I was surprised when I got a call from my painters that I needed another gallon!! When I went in I told the associate that I was surprised that one gallon didn't coat (it was going over a light cream) I was informed that in order to guarantee that "one coat" it had to be a color from the display. I'm sure that this is a wonderful product but it is simply a customer service training issue. If someone is buying a $42 gallon of paint, and they are not informed that to get the results stated, it has to be selected colors (just not Behr in general) . This was probably the case in all the other one star reviews that one coat didn't work. I was upset to spend so much money and extra time running on a 200 sq ft in paint/time/labor. My painters had to do double work. Please inform the employees and you will get better reviews and happy customers. I am planning on painting the whole interior of my house in the next 60 days and will try this product again in the correct Marquess formula color. We'll see.......

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Decent Coverage, Color Inconsistency When using a roller, the coverage was great, and was almost truly one coat. I just had fix a few spots. HOWEVER, prior to using the roller, I had cut in around the ceiling, base trim, two doors, two windows, and a built-in unit. This required two coats. The odd part was that the locations that were brushed were several shades darker than where I rolled it. At first I thought it was due to the second coat, but I did some experimenting and found it was brushing vs. rolling that was causing color inconsistency. I ended up getting a mini-roller and going back over all the spots that had been brushed, trying to get as close to the trim as possible. This worked, but I have no idea why this would happen. I wasted a lot of paint fixing this, therefore it was not worth the extra cost. Not to mention wasting my time, as it ended up taking longer than using regular paint, due to all the extra attention I had to pay to the trim work. I love the color but will not use this paint again.

The paint looks amazing and the drips we had on the hardwood floor and trim came off with ease. The only downside I have is that despite it being a one coat cover up, it took some areas two coats to cover it. We used tinfoil over a light pink color and some pink still made it through but some touch up fixed that. We also used a dark gray (city storm?) and this was much more difficult to paint because if you were to roll over a wet spot, with the paint roller, it would "pick up" the paint. Other than that the paint looks wonderful and we will be using this paint on other rooms in the future.

We usually buy the next grade down from this, with primer included, and have had excellent results in covering dark colors with one coat. I tried Marquee this time since it was $4 off... 3 disappointments: 1) eggshell cost a few dollars more than the marked price, 2) counter person told me that the one coat guarantee did not apply because I requested a custom color, 3) didn't cover in one coat... It was very good, but I had to go back over 4-5 places as it started to dry because it wasn't covered fully. I still love Behr paint, but plan to go back to the regular Behr level with primer.
