Questions & Answers

Why are 5 gallon medium base satin not in stock in any stores?

Need 15 gallons satin (Gothan Gray) and would have to buy in 1 gallon. Must not want to sell to people wanting to paint the complete exterior of a medium sized home.
Asked by: Handyman
This is a question we struggle with with many of our 5 gallon paints, and it is a multifaceted problem. First, buckets require much more space than single gallons, so we can't stock everything we have in gallons also into 5 gallons. Second, most every paint has 3 bases: white, medium, and deep, which allows us to create the colors requested of light, medium, and dark colors, but this further complicates the space problem to stock everything in 5 gallons. We usually find more limitations with the darker colors that require deeper bases. Third, it is a cost vs. sales issues about what to stock, always a struggle and definitely arguable, but that is just the reality of retail. Usually there will be at least 1 store in the vicinity that will stock most hard-to-find items, but its not always the case, especially depending on your location. But, ordering online is always an option, although there will be longer lead time, so a bit of planning will go a long way for larger projects. Hope this helps you understand, and see you in the aisles.

Can I use this on vinyl siding? I'm looking at using a darker color than what our vinyl is now

Asked by: Kdes
Hi Kdes, Thanks for writing in with your question. Yes, our Marquee paint can be used on vinyl siding. However, we recommend selecting a color similar or lighter than the vinyl siding's original color. Darker colors can absorb more heat and warp the siding. Good luck with your project! This is the best paint I have ever used by far. It's worth every penny, even though the initial cost seem high. This paint goes further and is much easier to work with than other brands and also covers much better. Do yourself a favor and buy this paint for any project you won't regret it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Front Door Make-over We had a plain white metal front door and decided we needed some color. We used the exterior satin enamel "Arrowhead Lake" color that looks just great. It was easy to apply and clean-up. I recommend this paint. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this paint! Using this paint on exterior siding, and find it covers easily. The consistency of the paint is the best I have ever used for an exterior paint. It goes on smoothly, and covers completely. Our project has been interrupted due to weather but it seems to be very durable as well. It will cover in one coat but we will do two so hopefully it will last longer than average. My husband and I are very impressed with this paint, and recommend it over any other brand. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ease of use with fantastic results Scraping the cedar shingles we wanted a paint that would cover and hold up for years that these 60+ year olds would not be climbing ladders in the near future on our 3 story house.. We did our research to cover our 70+ year old house with several different sites that recommended the Behr products. After prepping the wood with the 1st primer (oil) to seal the wood we began using the Behr paint. the satin smooth paint was a joy to apply - 1st coat of paint was heavily applied to the house to make sure everything was sealed. By the 2nd coat we were using less paint and the house was completely sealed tight. Clean up with soap and water a plus. Love the color selection giving lots of choices It helps having your spouse who is a painter - the prep work took the longest but is the most important step to make sure the paint adheres to the house. I use this product on all my exterior paint jobs, I wont use any other product for exterior painting and I recommend this paint to all my owners. This paint is the best it gets, there is no other paint made better. The paint is thick which you know is quality paint not watered down like most your other paints. I have been using paint products for years and all the homes I have painted never have problems even going as far back as 15 years ago. This paint goes above all my expectations. Yes, it is a little pricey but you pay for what you get. It is worth every penny. Best product ever!

The first gallon I got seems quite a bit whiter than what was previously painted on the house, even though it was the same name and color code, and also behr paint. It took 2-3 coats to cover the trim, and so one gallon was not enough. I had to buy a second gallon, and the color does not match. It is darker and yellower. Same name, same color code on the sticker they put on the can, but it does not match. I will need to repaint all of the trim again!!! I am giving up on this Behr stuff and going with another brand, at an actual paint store.

I love Behr paint, and use it exclusively but I will not use Marquee on exterior trim in the future. The paint is extremely thick...I made the mistake of using it on an exterior metal front door...first using a 6" smooth foam roller...outside temperature was moderate about 60 degrees, but the paint dried so quickly that it didn't level and left bubbles in the finish. I sanded it a second time and used a high quality brush..and once again it failed to level. I will go back to Behr Premium Plus Ultra for future exterior painting.
