If you wait 24-36 hours before you apply a second coat, will the adhesion be as good as if you applied the second coat 2 hours after it dried and do you have to do anything special to the surface before applying a second coat.

Can Behr Marquee exterior be used on aluminium siding without a sealing primer?

Asked by: Danny
Hello Danny, Thanks for your question! Yes, it can be used on aluminum siding. For aluminum, it wouldn't need a separate primer but please be sure to clean the surface of any contaminants before applying the paint. Well wishes for your painting!

5 gal. #PPU18-06 Ultra Pure White Satin Enamel Exterior Paint and Primer in One is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 1358.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not fade!! I started painting the front of my house in July of 2014. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to stop painting just half-way up. I was not able to commence painting until July of 2015. One year later, using the same gallon of paint, I went up on scaffolding to continue the work. My house faces south and after an entire year of having harsh Indiana sunlight beating onto this rather rich bright paint, I fully anticipated there to be a notable difference in coloration. There isn't. Any. None. Zip. Zero. You cannot tell from one board to another where the 2014 work ended and the 2015 work began. We (my grateful neighbors and I) are astounded. I am under 5'4" and over 50 years old - I am buying single gallons to complete the work as I am not about to contend with a 5 gallon bucket. I am very happy to report that the second gallon, used to finish the remaining section of the front of the house also perfectly matches the previous paint color. My house is almost 100 years old and has original cedar siding.

This may be the single worse paint that I have ever used. I cleaned the surface, but this spread like water, causing me to two-coat the white paint over an already white surface. I returned one of the two quarts that I bought and went to a hardware store chain and bought their house brand. It worked much better, with even coverage. I will not buy this again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 5 coats required We bought this level of quality based on the promise at the paint counter that it would cover in one coat. It took 5 to cover our front door from a pale blue to a bright yellow. Coats unevenly, I am super disappointed in this paint. We’ve used behr ultra countless times for interior paint so I trusted the quality. Wish we could get our money back.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible stuff. So, I’ve been painting houses about 20 years and always prefer other manufacturers over Behr, Benjamin Moore, Sherwin williams, Dunn Edwards, you name it. I’ve used many of not all of the Behr paints in the course of my career and know to avoid it at all costs. The normal Behr premium plus is a more solid product than the marquee, But, of course I took this job, and the customer already over payed for this yellow, semi gloss marquee for their walls, and wanted to use that, so I regretfully agree to this nonsense. And yes, the horror story’s you read about are true. The paint is smelly, dries at a strange rate, and runs, streaks horrible!, Roller marks! is sticky, so it slides your roller cover off the handle and makes a mess, Is drippy, clumpy, and gluey. Compared to most premium or professional contractor grade paints. I’ll never use it again. I’ll refuse in the future. The customer didn’t complain because they had done some painting previous to hiring me, and there work was an absolutely hideous, stippled disaster so, me being a professional, it looked a bunch better to them and they accepted it but it looked like garbage on the wall to me. And Frankly, I’m embarrassed of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleasantly Surprised I am not a person who writes reviews but I had to say something after some of the negatives, I am using this to touch up walls for selling the house. We have an 11 year old modular home which had some kind of contractors glue on the wall when we moved in and we have tried to remove it with everything you could possibly think of over the years but nothing and I mean nothing can get this stuff off the wall. I bought the paint sample and the wonderful person at the paint dept. Barb is an artist with matching the color perfectly. I bought foam brushes and covered the marks with one coat dried fast and then a second coat and voila. Gone no more marks, you can't even tell the wall was painted because it dried and matched so perfectly. Also no paint fumes! I had no problems with this paint and I am an Ace girl so let me say I am pleasantly surprised with this paint. I will positively use this paint again and recommend this to everyone now! Try it out in the sample and see for yourself!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from By far the best paint i've ever used! Have been using Behr paint for well over a decade, maybe two. Here recently the time came to repaint the exterior of both my homes, I wanted the best paint possible especially where fading color and durability is concerned. So I skipped my usual choice of Behr Ultra Premium Plus for the Marquee and I'm so glad I did. First thing you notice when you mix this paint is this is some serious paint. It covers extremely well though all paints say "one coat coverage" this one actually comes close to achieving it, I do two coats anyway because I want it to last and last. The way this paint holds color is remarkable, I look at the difference in what has been painted and what hasn't and just know I have found the best paint I've used in my 30 years of painting. Wouldn't trust the exterior of my home to anything other than Behr Marquee, and from now on the interior too! If you are a loyal Behr consumer#or not#, try this paint because it's so much better than any other paint out there. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No idea why the reviews are so polarized But in my experience this paint is terrible in terms of "one coat." This was really the only thing I cared about. I was impressed by the reviews that speak to this, so thought I would give it a try. I am repainting a bathroom that is part very light blue and part white. I painted a small section of the white wall to see how well this stuff REALLY covers and even the white-on-white was definitely going to need a second coat! I had some Zinsser 1-2-3 for priming so I put that down over both the light blue and the white as the base coat. Painted over that with the Behr's and waited for it to dry. Even the white sections of the wall still look like they could use another coat. I am not a professional, but I have been doing interior finish work for myself, friends and family since the age of 13 (I am 59 now). This paint seems no better to me than the $18.00 a gallon stuff. Really disappointing. Honestly, I would pay even more for this paint if it covered like the reviews say. No idea why it seems to work so well for some, and so poorly for others.

In fairness, I am covering colonial blue with this white paint, but it took two heavy coats and left lots of brush marks (very expensive brush). It dried so fast that going over what you just painted seconds before pulled up the paint!I hope the 5 gallons of Behr paint (classic blue to cover colonial blue) I bought to paint the soffit and fascia covers better. Doubling my work is not in my schedule this summer!
