This is being applied to a tan epoxy coated surface with some bare concrete on spots. We are using the recommended 3/8" nap premium roller. Given the "self-priming" and "one-coat coverage" descriptors, I would not think a second coat would be necessary. It definitely will need a second coat. The darker areas are overlap or areas we have re-coated in an attempt to see how many coats it will take. We are thinking three at this point.

Hi ThriftySmurf - Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, this product is not a one-coat coverage paint; however, it is self-priming. Once the existing paint is scuff sanded and the bare concrete is etched, we recommend applying a coat of the 1-Part Epoxy to the whole surface which will act as your primer coat. Any additional coats will build up the color and a uniform finish. If you need further assistance with your project, please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly. - Sara Behr

Hand stenciled my patio - what a great product!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Last summer (2020) nearly everyone was stuck at home, unable to go anywhere or do much, due to COVID. Because we were stuck at home, I figured after 15 years of living in our house that it was time to do something with our patio. After extensive research I found some pics of folks who had stenciled their patios using Behr’s Concrete & Garage epoxy paint. I decided to give it a try. It was one of the easiest and most impactful home improvement projects I’ve done. As you can tell by the photos, it made a drastic and positive change to our outdoor space. Once I was done I used the sealer, just to make sure my handy work was sealed and could withstand the elements. And here we are nearly a year later and the paint still looks great. It held up to the PNW’s harsh wet and rainy weather, the snow earlier this year and our now 115 degree days. I cannot say enough great things about this product. No matter what job you plan to tackle, it’s the best outdoor, concrete paint there is!

    The best product
I’ve used this product in 2 of my garages over the past few years. Easy to apply, looks great, durability is awesome, even after driving multiple vehicles in and out. I will definitely purchase more of these products in future and highly recommend. Prep is key to achieving ultimate performance of this product. In this garage I sprinkled the flakes on top of paint before drying by doing 5ftx5ft sections and it turned out great!

behr 1 part epoxy garage and floor paint
BEHR 1 PART EPOXY GARAGE COATING i bought 10 gallons of behr 1 part epoxy garage floor paint for my patio's and shop floor. first i used muriatic acid to clean and etch the concrete floors. i then pressure washed it clean. then went over all of it with powdered TSP and aggressively brushed all the surfaces, again pressure washed all surfaces clean and let dry for 2 days. we applied the first coat, let it dry over night. next day applied 2nd coat. let dry for 5 days. 1 week later, we had heavy rain. the coating is bubbling and wrinkling up everywhere. We put so much time, money and effort to ensure we had good end result. So disappointed

Hi paulb, thank you for your review. I’m so sorry the paint bubbled after it rained. I recommend removing any loose coating, spot etching the bare concrete again, spot priming the bare concrete spots with our Concrete & Masonry Bonding Primer No. 880 to further help with adhesion in those areas, then touching up and recoating with the paint. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. I'll reach out to you directly to assist you with this further. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience with us, and I hope to hear from you soon! -Joni

          So Disappointed :(
We used this product for our outdoor concrete patio space that is covered from rain, sun and other weather. This was brand new concrete and the surface was etched extensively prior to applying the product. Less than a year later almost a third of the product has chipped off. Now I’m wondering what I can even do to make things better. Overwhelmed by the amount of work I put in the first time around and thinking about doing that all over again so soon is the worst. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone, can’t imagine parking a car on this space, our damage is literally only from foot traffic.

Hi WFamily - Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear about the chipping on your covered patio space! To fix the finish, I recommend removing the loose paint, sanding down any harsh edges to a smooth finish, applying a coat of paint to the bare areas (this will act as your bonding primer coat), then 1-2 new coats to the whole area for uniformity and a long-lasting finish. I've also reached out to you via email to help you with this further. Thanks again for taking the time to share this with us, and I hope to hear back from you! - Sara
Don't take their word for it
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far I am completely disappointed in this paint. After 3 coats, a complaint to customer service, another coat and 3 coats of the sealer they sent.... I have just had to scrape all the paint up off the floor so I can start over. The paint just comes up with normal walking and cleaning. If water accidentally sits on the floor the paint bubbles up and peels away. All of this work is being done on an animal shelter that rely on donations to make it thru, so spending the money on paint, then having to re-do it all is really a setback. I give 2 stars and not just 1 because the customer service person that sent the sealer (even tho it didn't work...) was very nice and professional.

Hello, thank you for your review. I'm really sorry to hear that the coating is peeling off again. This is not the experience we want our customers to have with our products, and I understand your disappointment. I'll reach out to you in a private email to find the best way to help. Very Disappointing
Followed the directions to the letter and then let it sit twice as long as recommended. Tire peel happened almost immediately. Looks awful. What a waste if time and money.

Hi FMnc, thank you for your review. I'm so sorry the paint is peeling even after letting it dry longer. I recommend removing any loose coating, spot etching the bare concrete to feel like 150 grit sandpaper, spot priming the bare concrete spots with our Concrete & Masonry Bonding Primer No. 880 to further help with adhesion in those areas, then touching up and recoating with the paint. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. I'll reach out to you directly to assist you with this further. Don't waste your money
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I applied this on my side walk around the house. 10 months and it's already peeling out. I followed all instructions and still it peeled. Use some other product but not this.

Response from Joanna, Behr Customer CareApr 18, 2021
Hi Kishore, thanks for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear the epoxy paint you used on your sidewalk peeled so soon; that's not the performance we expect from our products.

To get your project back on track, we'd recommend removing all the loose paint from your surface, cleaning your surface with a concrete cleaner and degreaser, allowing it to for at least 24 hours, and spot priming any bare/uncoated concrete spots with our Bonding Primer No. 880 before touching them up with your paint.

Customer satisfaction is very important to us. So, we've reached out to you directly to assist you further. We hope you have a great rest of your weekend.
Long time Behr customer left dissatisfied.
In September of 2020, we purchased this product to cover our bare garage concrete. We prepped the concrete as directed using a power washer & highly toxic chemicals (muriatic acid & concrete cleaner). Waited for the concrete to fully dry. After applying our two coats as directed, we waited more than 5 days to park our vehicles in our newly finished garage. After driving in the 1st snowfall of the winter of 2020, our newly coated concrete immediately began peeling off in chunks under each of the tires (2 cars). This product does not perform as intended, and we would not consider recommending this product, nor are we sure that we are willing to waste another 2 weeks re-prepping, re-applying the product, and waiting for the product to dry again. This was a moderate to high-priced home project between the Behr product, and all of the additional supplies needed to complete the job.
