Good product at the right price
We used this product on some knotty pine boards that we installed on our front porch. I went to the store with a different brand in mind but found that stock was limited. I wound up buying this and am very happy with it. The product covers great and comes in different colors and finishes. Project came out great and will use again in the future. We used a deck applicator to apply and it worked great.

      Does not last
This just did not last. Put it on 9 months ago. I live in new york, so it sees sun, rain, and snow. I power washed, waited 2 weeks, and sanded. The wood was prepped perfectly.

Hello Unsatisfied, thank you for your review. I'm so sorry the stain didn't last as long as expected. I recommend removing the coating, cleaning the surface with our All-In-One Wood Cleaner No. 63 to clean and open the pores of the wood to allow the stain to grip onto the surface, letting the surface dry, then reapplying the stain. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. Please feel free to reach out to our Customer Care team directly for further assistance. Our team is happy to help you! -Joni Behr
        Waste of time and money!
I spent days prepping my deck per the instructions. I used Behr #64 and #63, sanded all of the boards, and applied 2 very thin coats (out of the sun, etc). Within 3 days I already have a few spots that are already peeling!!! This is most incredible WASTE OF MONEY and TIME ever! I purchased gallons of 63 and 64, plus gallons of stain. And my time! I did everything right and now I have to pay someone to strip it off and put some other product down that’s not an absolute failure!! I will NEVER buy another Behr product again!!! Do NOT buy this and waste your money!!

Looks good - feels bad - Worst ever- Do not buy
I am a Behr fan for all interior and exterior paints. But this is the worst ever, I applied the first gallon to a bench and while it was drying proceeded to get 2 more gallons for the deck as the directions said full dry in 72 hours. It has been over a week now. The bench is sticky in places. I cannot walk on the deck as it is tacky enough that I can feel it pulling my feet. Just cut the grass near the deck and the smaller clippings that blew over do not come off even with a blower., I am attaching the images of that area below. Will have to sand or remove this monstrosity and use something reliable. Should have paid more attention to some of the reviews here.

            Hi MobileAl,

Thank you for reviewing Behr Premium Semi-Transparent Waterproofing Wood Stain & Sealer. I'm sorry to hear about the tacky issue experienced, as it certainly isn't what we want our customers to go through. The stain should've dried to a hard finish within 72 hours, and I understand the concern with the stain remaining tacky for so long. A small test area can be gently cleaned with soap and water to remove the tacky top layer. The rest of the surface can be cleaned if the small test area feels less tacky after drying. If there is no difference in tackiness, it'd be best to strip, clean, and recoat.

Please contact Behr's Customer Care Department for further assistance with this matter. We'd love to find a way to help.

            Kindest regards,

            Doris Behr
It applies easily and fairly evenly with a little bit...
It applies easily and fairly evenly with a little bit of care. Don’t make my customers mistake and apply it in direct sunlight. It’ll be a bit blotchy if you do that and dry too fast. Otherwise I’d give it five stars

              STAIN BLED!!!!
I had to wood around my pool stained last year and ever since I have had significant bleeding around my deck. It was applied using the directions my a professional, cleaned etc, and everytime there is rainfall there is bleeding around my deck with an oil sheen, which they say is caused my the stain. its make my beautiful pool look absolutely disgusting, and I paid thousands of dollars for the application of this, which is upsetting to think that it may need to be stripped off!!!

              Hi Janet,

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the stain on your pool deck bleeds! It sounds like surfactants are coming out of the stain whenever the surface is exposed to moisture. This typically stops once the coating completely cures and the oily residue may weather away on it's own. To remove the remaining oil residue, I recommend cleaning the surface with our All-In-One Wood Cleaner. So we can assist you with this further, please feel free to reach out to us directly. We'd be happy to help. - Sara Behr

My kids toddler washable paints hold up better
This is the worst stain. I bought it and did deck at my old house and after a few weeks anywhere dog went this came off. Then spots where we walked it came up. This past September we moved and right before the prior owners listed house they used the same exact stain to do their deck and it looked nice for a month then Minnesota winter and spring and the deck looks terrible. I have used Behr paint and things but am so annoyed by how terrible this product is I won't ever buy Behr anything again.

                Hi Luke,

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the stain came up after a few weeks of dry time! To fix, it's best to remove the stain completely, prepare the surface with our All-In-One Wood Cleaner, then apply 2 new coats of stain at the recommended spread rate with a pad applicator. So we can assist you with this further, please feel free to reach out to us directly. We hope to hear from you! - Sara Behr
