Worked well both inside and out painting raw wood without priming it. This paint will not scratch off smooth surfaces and dries very hard. When painting trim and doors you can not find a better paint. The urethane creates a super bond.

Oak Cabinets
Cleaned cabinets, removed hardware, liquid sandpaper, sanded/primed 3 times with oil-based primer. I FINALLY used this AMAZING paint! It’s beautiful, smooth, leveled, did not need much. Does leave color discoloration when wet, but disappears when dry.

I knew I needed a durable paint to cover a steel indoor/outdoor door. Honestly I had my doubts that this was the paint I needed. I asked a very knowledgeable young man while at Home Depot what should use. The door manufacturer listed several brands. I mentioned one of the brands and of course Home Depot doesn't carry it. It was a Urethane Trim Enamel Paint. I was really impressed that the paint was perfect for the job. I was afraid that the weather stripping would stick to the paint. I followed instructions printed on the can (application temperature, dry time, delay to second coat, etc) and ended up with excellent coverage. The vinyl weather stripping didn't stick to the painted surface. I started out using a 2" brush but always in a hurry, I switched to a 2" roller. Everything worked out well!

switched from Sherwin Williams
since the pandemic paint has become harder to find in quantity. Behr and the Home Depot have really stepped up this year with products and services. that being said this may be one of the most versatile paints on the market. you can paint cabinets and trim work inside and performs just as well outside. great product at a great price.

Its A BEAR to work with
Did my Kitchen cabinets. Went from Expresso to off white.
Scuff sanded the oil base expresso I sprayed on from Rustoleum about 5 years ago. Then 2 coats of zinser 123 primer. Then 3 light top coats with this Satin.
You need 2 to 4 hrs dry time between ea. Coat and perfect temperature and humidity or this paint will start to set up quick. I used a Wooster foam roller. Got a pretty smooth finish, but not a perfect oil base sprayed finish. You have to be fast with this paint. Then wait 4 hrs. Between Coats. The finish is fairly hard but low sheen Satin.
I've been painting for over 20 years. Behr was great back then. Don't know what happened. Don't ever use their Semi Gloss, its even harder to work with. For Cabinets I suggest SW Emerald.
Sooooo much better.

Great Product
I have quite a bit of experience with coatings in Aerospace and Automotive Finishing Industry. As mentioned before, proper preparation of the substrate is of utmost importance. If overcoating a previous paint, know what what type of coating is there. Compatibility of coatings is important. Humidity and temperature is also very important. If humidity is too high, water based paints will not dry.
As for the paint itself, it is excellent and has great adhesion. Even in stained wooden surfaces. I used it on a new desk project to get a whitewash effect and was extremely satisfied.
I see why it works well for cabinets and furniture.

Not for Exterior Use!
Really, really disappointed in this paint. It says for interior/exterior use. I used to refinish some exterior wood shutters, and after less than 1 year, the paint is cracking and flaking off on all of them. Extremely frustrating that I'll have to paint all of these shutters again. Do not use this paint on anything exterior!
I used the same can to paint some interior drawers, and those are doing okay for now.

This paint is the toughest and most chip resistant option for kitchen cupboards. It can be tinted to any Behr color. I always sand and prime (2 coats) then top with this urethane alkyd paint (2 coats). It takes longer to dry between coats - but worth it. It's harder to clean off of hands and brushes - but worth it. Provides an exceptional finish and outstanding protection. This is a Hybrid paint. It works by having an oil molecule surrounded by water molecules which carry the pigment.
