Q:Is it durable for pets and scratches
by|Nov 28, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Hi Kimmie, thank you for your question. Our Granite Grip is designed to provide a protective and durable coating. However, it's not designed specifically for pet traffic. With that in mind, annual maintenance may be needed to keep up the appearance depending on the amount of wearing, scratching, and traffic. Have a great day! -Lina

Q:Many of the replies by Behr to questions on this product page make it sound as if this product is Granite Grip. But the product title doesn't say the word granite or grip. Is it Granite Grip or not? Thanks.

      Answer This Question

A:  Hi WorkingWithTiles, thank you for your question. The Decorative Flat Interior/Exterior Floor Coating is our Granite Grip paint. You should see this in the title when viewing the gray and tan base without added color. However, you will see the color name and type of finish when viewing the available colors, such as Sunset Ridge GG-09. Have a great day! - Randy

        Answer This Question

A:  Hi Orlando, thanks for the question. I wouldn't recommend adding any additional dye or tint to the coating than what was done at the store. Adding to much tint can impact the performance of the coating, Have a great day! -Ronald

          Don’t buy this
My husband and I spend almost two weeks prepping , clean and painting our 1000 sq ft back porch. Spending over $1500 and after two weeks it is ruined. Yesterday we got a rain storm and see the picture below of what our new back porch looks like.

Stay away from this product on larger surfaces
Per coverage should have needed 10 gallons. Currently at 35 and need ten more. ON the fourth coat.. Great color- just blotchy coverage. Surface was power washed and etched. Applied by a professional painter. Stay clear of this product. I should have headed the reviews. Was plannning on using on an upper cement veranda deck- absolutley not after seeing the finished effect. Would not recomend for larger surfaces. Stay CLEAR of this as a solution.

                If only...
If only the coverage was the only issue here. I had to apply 5 coatings to get a decent look using the proper roller (which was a nightmare). There was no rain between layers and 2 weeks after the last coat went on. It looked amazing during that time until the first rain. Bubbles started popping left and right which destroyed all of the hours of work and money spent towards the product. Look at pictures for reference as this is a 3 weeks old result. Preparation 1h Paint 10h across a week.

                  Bad coverage and stains
We purchased for our 400sq ft concrete patio. Used all the correct tools & followed instructions. It was very hard to spread with the recommended roller. We applied 9 gals. It needs a third coat. There are dog paw prints and people footprint stains all over it. I’ve scrubbed it several times with dawn soap to get the mud/mulch/dirt stains off, but no luck at all. We’ve put so much time, effort and money into this.I’m upset about the stains and the poor coverage. I don’t recommend.

Please know it is our goal to provide a solution to all our customers to help them fix their issues. Response from BehrOct 2, 2023
Hi Kelly, thank you for your question. I'm sorry to hear your project didn't turn out as expected. Our Granite Grip is designed to cover 40-60 square feet per gallon with two coats, while porous surfaces may require additional coats. For a 400 sq. ft. project, about 8 gallons is recommended for two coats. To fix this, allow the surface to dry for at least 72 hours before applying another coat. For the best coverage, I advise using an adhesive roller by adding little to no pressure to roll it out. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. Please reach out to us directly if you need further assistance; our customer care team is happy to help you! - Randy Behr
Doesn’t hood up to regular rain water
I wanted to love this paint as much it cost however, it’s over a month since initial application and after a rainy day I was left with bubbling paint! Not a happy camper considering the amount of money and time invested paying tid paint. Do not recommend.

Hi Aubree, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the Granite Grip Coating started to bubble after it rained. I can understand your disappointment with the time and expense that goes into a project like this. Customer satisfaction is very important, and our Customer Care team is on standby and ready to help. Please contact us directly so we can further assist you with a resolution. I'd recommend letting the coating dry for a few days, and the bubble may subside. If not, I'd recommend removing the loose coating by scraping or sanding, Spot-etching the bare concrete and then touching up the area with more of the coating. Again, our Customer Care team would like to hear from you to see how we can help. -Ronald Behr
Tedious to use but looks great!
started with a gallon of this in mineral gray for my 24 x 6’ porch. 1 gallon only covered 3/4. Went for more; had to buy a 5 gallon bucket because they didn’t have any gallons left of the gray.. Total cost was about 400$$!! “must apply with 1/4” adhesive roller cover” yeah ok! I used the roller but also needed to use a paint brush to get into all the pits in my 20 year old concrete porch. Very tedious process ! took a few days to complete. It does look nice hope it lasts (walkway was stained)

Bubbles up with a little standing water
I bought a 5 gallon bucket of this. It went on pretty well with a base coat and a thicker second coat. I loved the way it looked. But after week, got a good rain last night and everywhere there was a little standing water on the patio the product bubbled. I was really happy with it until this happened. Now not sure what to do. Try to scrape it all off and paint it with something else????

Hi Jevans, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear about the bubbling you experienced. Once concrete is coated, it cannot absorb water, and standing water will wear down concrete coatings. To fix the bubbling Granite Grip, I recommend removing any loose coating before etching the bare concrete to promote adhesion. Once clean and dry, touch up the areas. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. Please reach out to us directly if you need further assistance; our Customer Care team is happy to help! -Lina Behr
                            Granite Grip Concrete Paint
                            - Deceiving coverage information - Difficult to apply - Leaves patches I bought 2 gallons to do my porch, 200 Sq ft. Label says it will cover 350 to 500 Sqft. So I was expecting that one gallon will cover 2 coats on 200sqft area. Unfortunately, I've already applied one gallon of paint on part of my porch (< 200sq ft) with an ugly patchy look, and started to apply the second coat but I dont think that even on the second coat the patch will go away. I may have to pour a full drum of 4 gallons to cover the patches and have an intended look. I was low on budget, and decided to use finite grip as I was expecting that I will finish the job in one gallon ($75) or maximun 2 gallons, but unfortunately, I am unable to complete my project as 2 gallons are not enough and Its out of my budget to buy more. See the pictures of my project.

Hi Azim, thank you for your question. I'm sorry to hear that your project didn't turn out as expected. Our Granite Grip is designed to cover 40-60 sq. ft. with two gallons per coat. With that in mind, for a 200 sq. ft. surface, you should need about 4 gallons for your project. To fix the coating, I recommend letting the surface dry for 24 hours before recoating the surface. For the best coverage, I advise using an adhesive roller while using little or no pressure to roll that out. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback.
