      Answer This Question

Hi Ernie, thank you for your question. It sounds like you are asking how long each of our stains will last. Our Premium Penetrating Oil Wood Stain typically lasts 1-2 years before it will require maintenance coats, while our water-based Premium Wood Stain typically lasts 5-6 years before it needs to be removed and reapplied. Enjoy the rest of your day! -Christina

        Answer This Question

Hi Chris, thank you for your question. A 5-gallon bucket of Cedar Naturaltone Semi-Transparent Penetrating Oil-Based Wood Stain covers 2000 sq. ft. per coat. A 3/8" nap roller should only be limited to a rough surface. A natural bristle brush is for areas requiring more accuracy, and a pad applicator is recommended for best results. Have a great day! -Alex

Please explain: The product label says ‘stain and sealer’. The specifications say NO under ‘stain and sealer in one’. Seems contradictory. Product picture shows; behr premium, Semi-transparent waterproofing stain & sealer, penetrating oil

            Answer This Question

Hi OaktownSB, Thank you for bringing it to our attention. Actually, our Semi-Transparent Waterproofing Stain & Sealer Penetrating Oil is a stain & sealer in one. It seals the surface and will help protect the wood from the elements, such as the sun and rain. We are working to have the information updated on the website. Have a great day! -Ronald

Summarized by generative AI from text of customer reviews

Customers say the Behr Premium waterproofing stain and sealer is easy to apply and provides excellent coverage, enhancing the natural beauty of wood surfaces. Many users appreciate its water-repellent properties, noting that water beads effectively on treated surfaces. However, some customers have expressed concerns about the product's yellow tint, which deviates from the expected clear finish, and the need for more frequent reapplications than anticipated. Overall, the product is well-regarded for its performance and ease of use, making it a popular choice for various outdoor wood projects.

Easy Application with Wagner 350 Sprayer
I resurfaced my deck this pas spring so it was time to treat the wood. I chose Behr over other brands based on Consumer Report reviews. I am very pleased. Using the Wagner 350 Stain sprayer, this sealer went on quickly and evenly. It does take a few days before all the tackiness is gone (it has been 96 hours so far and still slightly tacky), but the finish looks great.

Went on great over old weathered deck. I used Cabot’s on earlier this spring with disappointing results. Bear oil based semi transparent stain actually penetrated the old wood weathered in the sun decking after coating with Cabot’s early this spring. Cabot’s product with the blue lid is disappointing lays on the surface and does not penetrate the wood. I think most of it wore off in the sun this summer.

I bought this to re-stain my shed. I started the job with the remains of the original bear oil stain, but didn’t have enough to finish, so I purchased a new can. To say that the new stain is nothing like the old stain would be an understatement. It has almost no pigment and looked like I had just put clear oil on it. I returned the unused portion and went with latex stain tinting base and had them mix it to match the old oil stain, which saved the job.

                      No Prior Experience Required!!!
If you are like me, you probably have zero experience prepping or staining fences, NO Worries! Just watch a few DIY Videos for technique, and go pick up Behr Chocolate oil stain and sealer. Prep the fence with the branded wood cleaner and FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS. I used a Wagner Stain Sprayer and Wooster Bravo natural bushes to back brush. This product can make anyone look like a professional. I hope this gives you confidence and the confirmation needed to start your next project. Good Luck!

                        This Stain Sucks!!!
I bought #1 Grade Doug Fir 16ft boards cost $2000.00, I sanded with a 80 Grit Sandpaper to get rid of the mill glaze and because I read and saw a video on YouTube that if you Sand Doug Fir with anything higher than a 100 Grit Sandpaper, it will close the pours of the wood. When I Applied this stain with a brush it looked beautiful when I was done. 3 months later, and the deck boards looked awful. I called Behr up and they said to apply a wood cleaner and restain. (which they did ship out wood cleaner and some more stain) I did as they said, and the color lasted about 1 month on the boards. This stuff is garbage I will never use Behr stain again. I have resanded all of my deck boards, and by the way I coated the whole board, sides, top and bottom. I live in Washington State where it rains 9 months out of the year. I would say that this stuff might hold up in the desert where it doesn't have a whole lot of rain but the last time I used this stain was in May, in sunny weather, no rain for months and it still didn't last. 400 hundred Dollars on this crap. I will say Behr's Paint is nice. In the Pics you see how nice the boards looked and what they ended up looking like. I had ran out of time before the rain season hit, so the boards were not screwed down, they were just loose but nobody walked on them the whole season. You can see in the pics that I even stained the frame work for the deck boards.
