Using Concrete & Garage Floor paint, what is the drying time before automobile traffic is safe ?

Asked by: 46aib
Hi, I used this paint and added sparkling of stars on the floor afterwards. I waited 72 hours later and Loving my new look on my Garage Floor. The summer heat was a win win at 102° July degrees. No problem. Thanks BEHR!

Does it need a primer or base coat?

Asked by: Jcbhome04
This is a one part latex based epoxy paint. Floor prep is really important as is cure time (5-7 days) So, the answer is really if it is a new surface, then just clean it and let it dry well before applying this product directly. If the surface has been previously painted then prep is important to product adhesion. Sometimes the best approach for previously painted surfaces is do your best to prep and then use a "gripper" paint that Home Depot sells before applying this one coat latex epoxy product

Is this product SKID resident?? If not what do you recommend to put over it for Skid resistance?

Asked by: Fritzy
I have not done mine yet, but I am going to also purchase a bag of ground glass to add to the paint before applying. I have used this method on fiberglass tubs and it does an outstanding job of providing slip resistance. It makes the surface like standing on sandpaper and if you mix it in the paint, you will get much more even distribution.

1-gal. #901 Silver Gray 1 Part Epoxy Concrete Floor Paint is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 695.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Something's Changed I painted my garage floor with Behr's Concrete & Garage Floor Paint back in 2005. Over the years, it has started to show wear and look a but grungy so recoated with the same (but different) product. Followed the directions to the letter and after 7 days, pulled the cars back into the garage. Each tire left a big black image of the tread and it does not wash off. Even the bicycle tires leave black marks. Anything that's rubber leaves ugly marks. Then a hose leak leaves a puddle and when I go to wipe up the water, the paint is lifting up like it's softening from the water. This latter issue was more than 2 weeks after application. This isn't epoxy. It's nothing put latex paint. A real disappointment as the original product used held up very well. To add insult to injury, I highly recommended it to a friend based on my past experience. He is having similar problems.

I then put two coats on, and it looked great. Told the wife no parking in the garage for a week. But we decided to wait a month, since it was in winter. The temps weren't too cold. And the tires pulled the paint off. So we waited another couple of weeks, and all seemed fine. Then summer hits. I pull the car in, and I can feel the heat coming off the car. You would think with the summer weather it would cure quickly. But when I pulled the car out the next morning, the tires pulled up the paint. Probably would have had better luck with regular exterior paint. In the photo the larger paint removed is from winter. The smaller is from summer. Looks like you may have to wait a year before parking on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love My Garage Floor We just painted our garage floor. , and I absolutely love it! It was easy to put on .. We etched it, and applied primer. Right now waiting the week before pulling the cars into the garage. Very pleased with it. Will update, once we drive on and see how it hold ups. But, for now couldn't be happier with it.! Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Dissapointed How do I feel about this product? IT IS TERRIBLE! A complete waste of time. 20 years ago I had cleaned, etched, and painted my concrete Liani floor with Flex Bond ship bottom grey stain. It lasted beautifully for the past twenty years, but it was looking a little dull so we decided to paint it again. However this time we used Behr 1 part epoxy concrete garage and floor paint. I pressure washed the floor first to make sure it was free from grease, oil, and dirt! After painting and leaving the floor to dry for 3 weeks, we had our Laini re-screened? Much to our dismay, The paint began peeling and the sneaker marks from the man doing the work won't come off areas of the floor that hasn't peeled yet? What is going on? it would be really nice to get some feed back from Behr!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Durable and great looking I've had a great experience with this paint. I agree fully with reviewer Larsthorwald -- if you don't follow the directions and prep the floor properly, YMMV. Here was our process: day 1 -- clean and degrease, day 2 -- crack fill and etch, day 3 -- first coat, day 4 -- second coat. I began moving lighter items back into the garage on day 6. The cars did not go back in until day 13. Three weeks later and the floor coating is holding up very well. The only problem I had was that the paint lifted up under the lawn mower tires when I moved the mower on day 12. I had cheated and put the mower in the garage on day 6. I quickly recoated the area and have had no problems since. If you are prepared to put in the effort, you will get a quality result.

Started peeling within days and I still haven't brought the cars back inside the garage. I followed the instructions and watched a video. What I should have done was watch other videos of people who have used this paint and reported it as being awful. Don't waste your money. Now I'm seeing videos of what it's going to take to remove this off the garage floor. What a horrible mistake I've made.

I followed all the directions including using a concrete sander and then a cleaner etcher and finally thoroughly cleaned to remove any dust, dirt, etc. I applied two coats waiting the appropriate time in between. The floor looked great, however even after waiting the recommended time before parking a car in the garage their are spots under all four tires of both vehicles where the paint in gone. Almost looks like the hot tire melted the paint. Now I have to figure out what to do with the floor. Do I have to completely sand again before applying a different product? Not to mention the inconvenience of not being able to park my cars in the garage for another couple of weeks. This product should be pulled off the market or relabeled for just concrete floors, not garage floors.
