Jack, I cannot say this is specifically for a basement, however, I used the porch and patio paint in my basement. It is holding up very well.

I was reading through the questions and answers and found another type of paint is recommended for plywood floors such as found inside a shed. What sort of floor paint is recommended for plywood floors? I have a resin shed that I'm going to install 1/2 inch plywood over a plastic floor. I have a couple of gallons of flood exterior stain to use on the wooden shelving. The plywood floor I think needs something harder that can be walked on and puncture resistance, such as a deck and/or floor paint.

I am building a new deck with raw lumber, do I need to use a primer first with one coat of paint or does this come with primer in the paint.

I have a wood porch floor that needs painting . Do I need to prime the floor first before I paint it ?

Asked by: Vetteman
If you are planning to use this Behr paint, don't bother because it will begin to peel within a couple of months whether you prime or not.

Can i paint a garage floor with this paint

Asked by: Vc
My original review of this paint was so negative I assume folks are either disbelieving it or ignoring it. In short I regret ever buying it, would not recommend it to anyone and would never buy it again to paint anything. To summarize my original review, I used it to paint the wooden floor of a wraparound porch (~300 sq ft.) It is a porch that I would paint every 4 to 6 years depending on how well the paint held up with 5 years being the average using McCloskey's porch paint. When I could not locate this McCloskey's paint and the porch needed a refresh, this Deep Base Low-Luster Exterior Porch and Patio Floor Paint seem to fit the spec. In short, within 6 months it was lifting and peeling. I was livid. I prepared the surface as I always had - It was scraped. sanded, washed and dried before the paint was applied. A lot of work for a total disappointment. Complete failure.

We spoke with a paint specialist in the store and they recommended us use this paint. We followed all of their directions cleaned our deck with a cleaner and power washer, then let it dry for multiple days until it was completely dry then painted our deck. Now, after about a year our deck looks terrible looks like we painted it many years ago and needs to be repainted all over again. We followed all directions of your paint specialist and used the paint they recommended I cannot believe how terrible this looks. This was a waste of my time and money using this paint. This is an exterior paint it should have lasted much longer and now Im going to have to buy new paint and re-paint it all over again. I defintely do not have the money to have wasted on this, will not be buying this again and do not recommend anyone using it on a deck.

I had my handyman paint my outdoor wooden ramp, stairs and spindles in July of 2016. This area gets very little traffic. I was dismayed when I walked out to this area in late March to discover that the paint was already peeling and chipping. Now, I will have to pay again to have it pressure washed and repainted! I always thought that Behr was a good quality brand. My opinion of it sure has changed!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't do this to yourself. I used this on the concrete floor of my screened-in porch. Someone at Home Depot assured me it wouldn't require a primer. I put down two coats and gave it a few weeks to dry before moving furniture in. And now there are scratches everywhere. Set down and pick up a piece of lightweight furniture? Scratch. Walk on it in hard-soled shoes? Scratch. Look at it the wrong way? Scratch. I can't imagine using this outside and expecting it to stand up to the elements. Now all I can do is put down rugs and look for a better product to repaint with. Whatever it is, it won't be made by Behr and I won't be buying it from Home Depot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good floor coating I am a professional with many floor jobs under my belt. I tried this product about a year ago. After cleaning, acid etching and letting the floor dry (floors suck; doing floors correctly really sucks), I applied two coats of black on a basement floor (approx 800 sf) and it looked great; it looked good after one coat, but I bid it for two coats. I just looked at it after about a year and it looks like I painted it last week, and these customers are not easy on this floor--dragging exercise equipment and furniture, cat and litter box, laundry area, teenagers. Pretty impressive product. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great I was redoing the finish the deck. Originally used Thompson's water seal with stain. Don't do this. Use this paint and lay it on liberally. Used a brush, that took forever, but looks amazing. Prepped with power washer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old Sheet Vinyl Floor Fix After cleaning the floor withTSP, I applied two coats of primer, two coats of Behr Porch and Patio floor paint in silver gray low lustre, and one coat of the ultra white gloss porch and patio floor paint stenciled on top. I had to order the paint online to get these colors and finishes. The paint was easy to apply with rollers and had little odor. I followed the guidelines for drying times. You can recoat after 4-6 hours depending on climate and need to wait 72 hours before normal use. I thought this would be a good interim fix until it is time to install a new floor. I am very satisfied with results.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NO NO NO NO NO!!! Im like you. I read the reviews. I listened to store employees. I figured “oh these 1 star people just dont know what theyre doing”.This product will cause you NIGHTMARES!!!! I was told i could use a sprayer with 4oz of water to thin! WRONG!! This stuff is like melting ice cream. SUPER THICK! I was told it would cover 200-400 sqft. WRONG!!!! I used a 1/2in nap roller since the sprayer failed and it took half a gallon to do 45sqft LIGHTLY COATED!!! I ended up having to use HALF A GALLON OF WATER to thin it just to finish 182sqft which obviously shows roller marks and needs to be redone. DONT BUY IT DONT BUY IT DONT BUY IT!!!! I will certainly be giving my thoughts to the manager tomorrow morning IN PERSON since their employees told me everything about it that was WRONG!!!!!!
