Maybe a strange question, but if this is a waterproofer and should repel stains and liquids, etc...how will a second coat adhere to the first coat?
Asked by: TJ
I had it done and brushed on two coats, just didn't let the first coat completely dry. The paint has held up well. Just two things - The paint ended up a little darker than I wanted (went off the color swatch) so I don't have the knots and "wood grain". And when birds, etc. hit the fence, it doesn't necessary wash off with rain (it is not necessarily "slick"). Used 200 square feet per gallon total (8 gallons for 1500 square feet.

Does this (SC-104) come in 5-gallon container?
Asked by: bob
Yes, but it's really darn heavy. You save about $15 vs. buying five one-gallon cans.

How much coverage in a gallon? (New wood)

Asked by: FrogMan
200-400 square feet, really depends on the dryness of the new wood. I got about 300 per gallon for the first coat.

Can you apply this stain over wood that had a previous oil based stain applied. The oil based stain in on siding that was applied 14 years ago
Asked by: Nancy
I'm gonna have to defer to Paintpro (Kevin) and I quote him: "There are a couple of ways to achieve this: 1. UseBEHR PREMIUM no. 64 Wood Stain & Finish Stripper to remove any stain that has not already chipped off. This will remove the oil stain and provide a fresh surface for the new stain. Follow the directions and make sure that the surface is thoroughly rinsed and dry before applying any new product. I have used this product several times and can vouch for its consistency in getting the job done. 2.Sand down the deck floor with a drum sander (like used with hardwood floor refinishing) to expose new raw wood. Note: countersink any nails that are stick out before sanding. This will also make the surface very smooth and looking almost new again. I have used this method as well and was pleasantly surprised with the results. When it comes time to apply the new stain – the BEHR PREMIUM STAIN is the best choice. With its advanced 100% acrylic formula and self-priming properties you can’t go wrong. Apply two thin coats to allow for the stain particles to penetrate the surface and soak into the wood fibers. One more thought: You might consider removing the existing wood and replacing it with a composite decking material that doesn’t need to be stained. This will be considered as an investment and will hold up to any extreme environment conditions. Hope this helps. paiintpro" \ (Kevin HD ATL)
