I just finished a 150sq.ft patio and it took seven gallons and it looks like crap. Followed ALL the instructions to a T. Garbage Product.

How hot will this get? Will it be too hot to the foot on a Florida pool deck?
Asked by: JFL
I just applied to pool deck last week took 3 coats and in about 8hrs of direct sunlight no clouds on a 90'day I could just about stand it bare foot, I measured 126' on a infrared thermometer and that was the tan color pretty much no change compared to older tan regular cement paint that was on pool deck previously. Don't paint your final roll in a straight line use a cross hatch or you will get lines that will show when dry

Can it cover concrete stairs?

Our front porch has 3 steps. The roof overhang is about 3 feet. It is on the north side of our home; the strong winds come from the south and would not be a factor. The vertical rise is 7 1/2 inches for each step. Even if not recommended, could you provide guidance on how to make the Granite Grip stick to the vertical surfaces? Thanks.
Asked by: Jeff
yes, it works very well on steps.

We spent over $1200 on purchasing this for our back patio and it's been nothing but a pain since day 1! Foremost, it's just a layer of cover once it dries out. Every time it rained, it would get bubbles underneath and it would smell of mold within a couple of days. It does not allow the concrete underneath to breath and the concrete stays wet as long as this stuff is on top of it. My husband re-did the bubblying portions twice and still to no avail. The bubbles kept coming back after every rain. The moldy smell just seemed to get worse every time it rained. This stuff should be banned and the truth should be told as to not make us waste this much money on something completely useless and that causes further damage to our concrete and to our lives. My husband and twins have really bad allergy issues and the moldy smell this stuff caused has been nothing but a pain. We decided to strip the entire patio of this junk. I am attaching photos as proof. It sure would be nice to get a full refund on this terrible product!

We are out over FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS trying to apply this to our carport! The first application (takes 3-4 coats to cover,NOT the 2 they claim) was applied in June of 2018. 2 months after application, bubbles on the surface were observed as were what appeared to be water stains on the surface. We later learned this was from rain that had blown into the carport. When this problem was reported to Behr we were told that the entire surface needed to be removed and the paint reapplied. We had to rent a grinder from Home Depot to grind down the surface to remove all the existing paint. We were told to then pressure wash, acid etch, pressure wash again and then reapply the Granite Grip. We did all this, it took weeks to complete between drying times, and NOW after just one month following the final application we had rain get into the carport and there is a HUGE WATER STAIN on the carport!!! THIS STUFF IS NOT WATERPROOF AND HOW IT CAN BE PROMOTED AS A DRIVEWAY AND GARAGE COVERING IS UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

Had to put on 3 coats to make it look cohesive. Imagine a 3 car garage square foot and 3 coats of product! About 6 weeks later where the tire sits and where the air conditioner drops water on floor it started to bubble and pull up. Contacted Behr and all they could do was send 5 gallon of product and suggested that when applied we place something where the water drips for at least 30 days so it can "cure" and no advice on the tire issue. Anyways, had re-applied and put plastic boot trays under the cars to catch water from A/C! Went into winter time. Live in Minnesota so winter comes and go... Now where my tires sat during winter it is peeing up again. This product should NOT be used in a garage environment. So now I have wasted so much $$$ in labor and product for something that I will have to have sandblasted off and redone with a product that is cheaper but known to last. I always used Behr products for house paint and deck stain however this is a big fail for Behr!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Took more than 2 coats, but it looks amazing I just used granite grip for the first time on my patio. I acid washed the patio and ensured it was dry prior to application. I also used the proper adhesive roller that is advised. To ensure proper consistency I had the paint shaken just before use by Home Depot. Pros: - Looks and feels amazing when complete - Easy to apply, not terribly messy as the adhesive roller does not throw a lot of paint around too much. - instructions are simple to follow - does not get slippery when it is wet Cons: - took more than two coats (3-4 for a thorough covering that is not transparent. - had a small area bubble up when it rained 2 days after application. I presume some moisture got into it. I will have to scrape up that 2x2ft section and reapply new paint.

Unbelievable garbage...........bought 8 gallons of this paint last summer. Cost me $400. pressure washed concrete walks, acid washed & pressure washed AGAIN, just to be sure, then waited for 4 days with no rain or high humidity. I work in commercial power washing business, so I know the concrete was VERY clean & ready for paint, so Behr can't blame this customer for improper prep or application, like they try to do. applied per instructions, let cure for 3 days, looked great in the fall & winter, was happy, made sure no salt was put down over winter, now, with Spring starting, swept, leafs, dirt, etc. & the paint is unbelievable, it's peeled away in sheets, looks like bubbles under paint. Been using Behr for years, still can't believe the money & time I spent on this project. It's almost like they forgot to add any adhesive chemical to this paint to stick to the concrete. Now, I have a major summer repair project to deal with. Very frustrated with this Behr paint. Good luck if you try this paint, maybe you batch is better than what I got.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coverage! My wife and I pulled up the old carpet on our patio, cleaned up the concrete and put down the Granite Grip. Took about a week working after our regular jobs and the weekend. The prep took the longest. The old carpet glue did not want to come off! We followed the instructions on the can and watched a few videos on line. And now it looks and feels great!! I'll let you know how it holds up!

I used this on my balcony which was about 10 foot by 50 foot and I had to use two of the 5 gallon buckets. At $220 a 5 gallon bucket, its the most expensive 5 gallon bucket in the store, but it was the only thing I could do on my balcony since I had eurotile that was chipping. I used a standard grey concrete patch, pressure washed the patio, and then used this granite grip. It is a dark tan with lots of gray in it as well so it blended the tan colored eurotile along with the grey patch perfectly. I did all the work myself even using a brush in and around railings and I had to use 3 coats to get the look I wanted. But it dried super fast, you can recoat in a few hours. It was easy to roll on, it comes premixed, easy to clean up with just water. So far so good! My only reason I did not give 5 stars is the price almost made me not purchase it. But I had gotten a quote of $2500 to fix the eurotile so out the door I redid the whole patio for $500 instead!

This stuff does work and it looks great if you follow the instructions. You absolutely must use an adhesive roller or sprayer for this. I rolled my coats on and it worked fine but you do have to learn how to be light with the pressure on the roller. This is very thick material and you should not try and spread it too thinly or it will be uneven. The second coat makes it really even out and look good. If you get splatter on something remove it immediately. I got some on a wall and I had to slice it off with a razor blade. Your mileage may vary, but it took me 15 gallons to do 2 coats on a 2 car garage. If your concrete is outdoors, remember that compromised concrete is not going to work well with any top coat product. For example, if water seeps up cracks in your concrete you should seal or fix that before applying any top coat material. The only reason I won't give this 5 stars is that it seems to take a lot of it to get the job done.
