Does this paint really require two coats if it’s tinted to match and applied over existing paint on stucco that is in good condition? We applied the non-elastomeric Behr masonry paint tinted to match over some patched cracks, and got a great result with only one coat.

No, just spread it well not skimpy

I want to paint my stucco house that was originally painted 6 years ago when new. I want to use elastomeric paint tinted to a light bage color matching the original. I'm un sure about the primer thing. Must I paint the entire stucco home with one coat of primer before I use the elastomeric paint? The cans directions do not tell you to use the primer but it says on the web site to use primer. It very confusing. The paint on my home now is in very good condition but faded . I live in central Florida wher its hot and humid in the summer.
Asked by: Confused
I the house was painted you don't need to use a primer. I would only patch prime if you have areas which peeled/scraped or where you see stucco not covered by paint. I personally don't recommend this paint on new houses. This is a great paint no doubt but it seems to limit breathability of the walls. The stucco should be able to breathe on the wall to allow moisture to come out. Unless you have a great ventilation system the paint may increase moisture level in your interiors.
