Flat top is very blue. Can it be tinted lighter or darker away from the blue?
Asked by: kj
Hi kj. We don't recommend adding tint to the product, as this can actually cause the paint to fail. Instead, we recommend selecting a different color. Home Depot does have 8 ounce sample sized container for purchase. That way, you can test the color before painting your entire project. Hope this helps - Vince

Is this a good option for an outdoor block wall with signs of wear and tear (minor water damage, cracks, efflorescence)? Or would a masonry/brick/stucco paint be a better option?
Asked by: Mac
Hi Mac, This product can be applied to a cinder block wall as long as it's structurally stable. We recommend filling in cracks that are up to 1/4" wide with DeckOver (if the cracks are bigger, you would need to use a separate filler product), cleaning the surface, and removing the efflorescence before applying this product. Best of luck with your project! - Sara

Customer Reviews

1 gal. #PFC-65 Flat Top Wood and Concrete Coating is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 585.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wasted Time and Money After thoroughly prepping the deck surface (which is very time consuming and labor intensive) and applying the BEHR Deck Over, it is peeling less than a year later. It was applied in June, when the temperature and humidity were all within the proper range, the surface was cleaned as instructed, and the product applied as instructed. Yet, now the deck is peeling in high traffic and even in no traffic areas. This product is tedious to apply, quite costly (about three times more than stain), and is peeling within a year. So, what was supposed to last five years or more, has lasted less than one. When it seems too good to be true...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A LOT of wasted money, time, and effort - Horrible I wish we had never purchased this! We have an old deck and this was recommended as the best product for a cracked, old deck. We spend many weekends scrubbing the deck by hand with the recommended product and then painting the deck. We made sure that the temps and humidity were in the range they said on the bucket. One winter and spring later the only paint that isn't peeling is the uprights on the rails. We had some left over from last year so we scraped and repainted and it is peeling again after only 1 rain! We want our money back.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Total Waste I have used a lot of other Behr products that worked very well. I have used Behr stain on my 3400 sq/ft all cedar (yes I like wood) siding home. For this reason I bought Behr's Deckover. If you read the reviews of those who like this product they just put in on in 21016 or 17. Yes, is goes down well but does NOT last. I put Deckover on my cedar deck. I painted for a living for 5 years so I know if you don't prepare a surface any product will fail. The Deckover is 2 years old and has failed completely. It is coming off is sheets that you can peel off by hand. The handrails and seats are the worst and they see no foot traffic. Moisture got under the Deckover at the cracks so the wood is wet. The Deckover pulled the paint out of the wood with the paint now being on the underside of the Deckover. You can see this in the below pictures. Buy Behr but not their Deckover!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money and many hours of work. I definitely do NOT recommend this product. We bought 12 gallons less than 2 years ago. We power washed our very large deck and meticulously followed the directions. We spent about a week painting and applying multiple coats. Last summer, we started seeing some of the deck over paint peeling off in spots. This month, only 22 months after applying the product, it's peeling away in large strips allover the deck. I thought this would last at least 5-7 years. It didn't even come close to lasting 2 years. Extremely disappointed. I associate the Behr name with a high-quality product, but that certainly did not bear out this time. We have a friend who applied this product the year before we did on his deck, and he was telling us last year it was a disastrous result for him as well. Now, we're experiencing it first hand. I painted houses before, have stained a deck before on another house we owned, and painted houses for my dad's painting business growing up, so I'm not a "first-time rookie" painter. DO NOT BUY!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ruined My Deck We used the cleaner and deckover product on our deck. The first summer it looked great. Then we noticed it starting to peel. I removed as much peeling "paint" as possible and saw that the boards were rotting from the underside. The product sealed in moisture from below and now we are faced with replacing nearly the entire deck. Stay AWAY from this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Peeling Same results as the other reviewers that described peeling in large patches after a year or two. We power washed, used the cleaner, and followed all directions in the application, and less than 2 years have gone by and the deck looks terrible.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money The worst product ever produced. Looked great for about two weeks then it started to peel and peel and peel. My deck never looked so bad.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Complete Failure to Live up to as Advertised We purchased this product almost two years ago after talking to salesperson at Home Depot. Our deck was older and had some splinters, etc. WE bought 15 gallons for our large deck with built in benches. We did all the prep work just as we were told on the can - bought the Behr products, power washed, let it dry completely and painted two coats a day apart. Temperature and humidity was within guidelines. By the following June it was peeling or lifting up all over - in big pieces leaving bare wood. By this year - the 2nd year it is a complete and total mess. Looks by far worse than it did when we started this project after visiting Home Depot and seeing the advertisements. I can't believe how many reviews say the same thing -- peeling in big pieces in less than a year and yet it is advertised to last 5 years at least. I've used both interior and exterior Behr paint many times and shop at Home Depot all the time. This is the WORST product I've ever purchased. I can't believe Behr hasn't listened to any of these reviews/complaints, etc and made necessary changes or with draw it from the market. I have no idea how to remove this mess and get my deck back to where it can be stained again. This was one of the hardest, most labor intensive jobs we've ever tackled - the prep, power wash and two coats of deck over -- and for nothing. We are worse off than we ever were.
