I've used Behr on wall projects in the past but I'm having no luck with this. I am on my 3rd ceiling coat in some rooms. Problem is that I always see roller marks after the paint dries. I've tried frequent stirring. I'm using a 3/8 nap 9" roller on a flat primed ceiling. The primed ceiling looked good but I can't get a good even finish. The paint is well rated so maybe it is my technique. Any tips? I'm about to try Benjamin Moore based on advice from pro painter but I won't spend the money if it is my technique.

I’m having the same issue. They don’t stand behind their product and Home Depot won’t help you either. Use a different brand and file a claim. Good luck.

What color is flat ?

I want to paint my kitchen and bathroom an off white color.

Flat is a term, which means solid ink coverage, the color can be anything dark, neutral, Blue etc. It is just another word for solid

Made the mistake of buying this instead of the similarly packaged paint&primer ceiling paint, which we have used before in multiple rooms with great success. After scraping popcorn ceiling smooth and then 2 skim coats of joint compound, a base primer coat, this horrible product ruined our efforts to make our ceiling look good. Product was shaken in store, then stirred at home but left a terrible inconsistent coverage. We used a premium 3/8" lambs wool roller, but the stipple from the poor quality of this paint ruined our work. In places there was no coverage (thin) and then in others it was gloppy, stippled looking. I'll now have to either try and sand smooth or skim coat with joint compound to repair this. Never again. Do not buy this paint.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dries too fast for smooth finish I use Behr paints for most of my projects, & have found them to be of good quality. Their paints usually spread well, and provide very good coverage, ending up with nice clean streak free walls. But this ceiling paint is a disaster. It dries so fast that you can not complete a small section of a ceiling before the previously worked area has begun to dry. I even kept my house temperature down in the 60's to slow the dry time. Even when using short strokes and small work areas (5 x 5') and maintaining a good wet roller, there is no way to seamlessly roll the ceiling without streaks. As soon as your roller hits the previously painted area, it pulls at the paint and creates a terrible orange peel effect that you cant fix. The paint does not level out what so ever. My previously smooth ceilings now appear to be textured. If you think a second coat will fix your first coat.. .STOP! Every coat will make the job worse, and more streaky. I wIll have now have to sand down and apply another product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Retiredguy66 I'm not a painter. I'm converting a garage building to shop spaces. I'm doing this on my own. I really don't like painting (It's something of a necessary evil), so when I do get involved in it, I want a product and vendor combination that will get me through this as quickly and hassle free as possible. I chose this paint for my shop for a couple of reasons: Trust in Home Depot and the Behr product line. Efficient portion and pricing. The location and presentation in the store is very good and the young woman tending to the paint knew the product and was able to answer questions. The paint rolled on quite nicely and is thick enough to virtually eliminate spattering. It dries fairly quickly so it's easy to see where additional coating is needed. In spite of the density of the paint, it is easily cleaned out of rollers and brushes with warm water and a mild detergent. The surface is tough and, on my plywood ceiling, mar resistant and easy to clean.

We had a little of the Behr interior ceiling paint left over from previously painting the textured ceiling in our living room. We bought 2 gallons more and mixed the two to get an even consistency. I was a little leery on using this on a flat surfaced ceiling from the previous reviews, but we went and tried it anyway. We put two coats on and It turned out beautiful. We made sure we had a good cured primer and did the proper prep work. The Behr ceiling paint rolled on very nicely with no streaks, etc. Great product and love the way it dries out to a nice flat white finish.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I find this paint to be good for coverage and... I find this paint to be good for coverage and effectiveness. I started a home renovation project last fall and have purchased 5-7 gallons of different BEHR paints. I was in the big blue box a month ago and my fiancee wanted a color in a non-BEHR paint. We bought it, and I thought I'd have to apply 2 coats as I'm having to do with the BEHR paints. No, one coat covers everything uniformly and completely. I will still buy BEHR paint for existing walls for exact color-matching, but I will buy the non-BEHR paint for new projects! I have been quite loyal to Home Depot. I did not know there could be such a marked difference in paints...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage!! I think you'd get get more coverage with a gallon of 2% milk. It's water. I bought M... Garbage!! I think you'd get get more coverage with a gallon of 2% milk. It's water. I bought Marqee ceiling paint first to put on first coat. The marquee paint is very thick and tough to work with in my opinion. Nevertheless it still needed a second coat. Since it needed a light skim coat to fill in some gaps, fix roller marks, etc. HD recommended I get the base Behr. It came out worse than before I put it on. It's awful paint. I went to Sherwin Williams and got CHB and I am happy with results. One potential important note about my situation. It's new construction. Drywall was new and was taped, joint compound applied, and sanded.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a good buy Bought this paint without reading any of the reviews that other customers gave. My daughter just repainted their ceiling with this paint and she said that it was hard to make her ceiling look nice. Took down popcorn ceiling, sanded and preped the drywall, applied pva primer and a coat of bullseye 123 primer. then appliers two coats of Behr ceiling paint. The ceiling looks like there are shadows and other things on the ceiling. One coat is terrible looking and maybe three will do the job. Paint is too thin and drips a lot. If you don't get enough paint on your roller you have to go over the same spot twice. Unfortunetly all ceiling paint is not the same color otherwise I would change paints. If you do not apply it evenly it leaves lumps and bumps when it dries. I also shows the overlap marks from the roller unless you do two or three coats. The can say one coat, but who are they kidding, even paint and primer is not a one coat paint. Would not buy this product again for ceilings.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Will not cover as much as it says but looks good. finished half of my basement and drywalled, other half was already "finished". Brown and blue paint on previously finished side (who does that with a ceiling?) took 2 coats and look good. Brand new drywall needs PVA primer first, but one coat over the PVA looks good. Basement area is about 500 SQ feet, I would guess the paint covers 180-200 square feet per gallon for a good finish with one coat, about half of what it claims. I will buy more for the other brown ceilings in the house.
