Questions & Answers

Will this cover midnight blue semigloss?

I have Midnight blue (almost black) semi gloss and also a dark Mustard semi gloss on the walls? Will one coat cover these colors?
Asked by: Kat
Semi gloss, maybe not, I would put two coats on. Do it once and it's done forever.

Does the white have to be tinted with a white pigment? I used this on my trim and it took THREE coats.

Asked by: Mo89
The white does not need to be tinted with any pigment. I use this when painting a lot of cabinets and such where customers want a satin finish. I find that even over bare wood, I will do about three coats. The first coat is a lighter coat, just to get a base on there. The second coat provides total coverage on the piece. The third coat fills in any areas that are missed, and gives a nice uniform finish overall. There are really no paints out there, unless being put on heavier, that will give complete coverage in one coat when going over a contrasting color, or bare wood.

I never had a problem. it was always the best paint you could buy regardless of the price or the store where I bought it. I recommended it to everyone I knew that had an upcoming paint job. I recently painted a bathroom from light blue to white. it took three coats. we painted our living room. it was light green and all we wanted to do was lighten it. light green over light green. two coats. when the can advertises primer in the paint, I don't expect this kind of watery coverage. when it says stain blocker, I expect it to cover even a similar color. very disappointing.

Maybe it's the color (Crimson), or maybe it's the sheen (satin), but this paint has been the biggest PITA. For starters, forget about two coat coverage. Even after four coats the paint is still uneven and darker in some places. The more you paint the darker it gets, which is an indicator that you are not getting good coverage. I'm using the best quality rollers available designed for smooth walls. Also, noticeable difference between where you use a roller and the edges where a brush is applied. The paint does not level well. I have painted many times during my 51 yrs on the planet, and this is far and away my worst experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a Difference a Gallon Makes We moved into a new house and every single wall was in desperate need of a refresh. We purchased 15 gallons of Behr PPU in several different colors and finishes depending on level of traffic, regular moisture, etc. We still have several rooms left to do, but the results are stunning. Our friends and family have given us great feedback. We love the pro quality of the finish. It stirred up easily to a uniform color each time we started a wall, and the roll-on coverage was easy and complete. We opted to roll on 2 coats in each room, although you could easily get away with just one and have a very nice finish. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Behr made a mistake when they added primer and stain blocking into there paint. I painted my entire house back in 2003, thought it was the best paint ever, really flowed well with brushing and rolling. Just bought a gallon of the behr premium plus ultra with primer and stain blocking to paint my kids bathroom, it dries to quick and does not flow when cutting in. If you have used the original Behr paint you'll know what im talking about. Its better to buy primer/stain block separate from your paint. Think about it, years ago when you primed before painting, the primer dries quickly. Now mix primer and paint together, you'll have altered the viscosity of the paint because the primer is drying to fast. Buy paint without primer, you'll thank me!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Results are Amazing! We just purchased a house and the previous owners had a love affair with ridiculously dark, drab colors. There's nothing wrong with that if that's what you like but it just didn't work for us. We thought it was going to be a nightmare trying to cover such dark walls. We decided to invest in Behr Premium Plus Ultra and the Marquee paints in some cases. Our walls look bright and fantastic now. It only took 1 coat and went on smoothly. The results are amazing. I'll never use another paint! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bathroom facelift I gave my bathroom a make over. I knew I wanted to go with gray. . I was so happy with this color! It is a wonderful neutral. Right now, I went with a Zen vibe but, should I decide to change my theme in the future, I can do so easily with worrying if the paint will match. I highly recommend checking out samples because you never know how a color will look on the wall. Paint an area and after 3 days, see how you feel about it. That method works great for me when deciding on paint color. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Painting a dark green over a previous light yellow. Washed the walls first, 3 coats to cover before bleeding through was eliminated. One gallon covered 2 walls in a 12 x 12 dining room. Response from Home Depot? "That shouldn't happen" Asked if I could return the second unopened gallon and pay the difference to upgrade to Behr Marquee. Response, "Absolutely not!" Do not purchase this brand of Behr paint.

This paint is the go to choice (after Sherwin Williams) of my professional painter who also happens to be an artist. She, and her professional artist husband, both use Behr Pure Premium paint for a large number of their projects, which include murals on the sides of buildings in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, Texas.
