Paint coming up with water

Over a week after painting i was cleaning a mark off with a white towel and water. My towel is now the color of my walls. What is going on?
Asked by: Christina
You need to let the paint cure. Even though it is dry to the touch, it is not necessarily cured. I would wait at least 30 days before scrubbing the walls. Even then, I would be gentle.

I decided to try the Marwquee line of paint since it promised one coat coverage. I am totally disappointing in this paint and won't use it again. One gallon only covered only 1/2 a 10 by 11 size room and it left spots that had to be painted over a second coat. It dries too fast when you are applying it. It's partially dries when you are putting more paint on your roller. When you roll your new paint on the wall, it peels off the first column of paint that you just applied a minute earlier. It is literally seconds and it is too dry to blend your rows while painting a wall. It sticks to itself and doesn't make a good bond with the wall. There was a small drop of extra paint on the wall and I attempted to remove it. It pulled a 3 inch large circle of paint off the wall. I had to cut it off and try and paint over it which made a terrible finish. I had to second and third coat the entire room. Waste of money, and a waste of time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This is the last time I will use a Behr... This is the last time I will use a Behr product. I just moved in to a fairly large apartment. I'm on a budget and the cost of a premium name paint seemed too much for all the coverage needed. I cleaned all the surfaces (ceiling, walls and woodwork) prior to painting. I bought the best rollers and brushes, and I've painted for years. I thoroughly stirred all the paints I used. I was painting over white paint that was 5 years old. The ceilings took 2 coats in each of the 7 rooms because it looked splotchy. The yellow took 3 coats the other colors all took at least 2 coats, sometimes 3. The first coat is like watered down milk paint. The last ingredient on Behr's list has to be pigment! The paint also has a weird consistency where it tends to form a separate skin over the previous wall and not rip into the wall. The time wasted plus all the extra gallon of paint show me how economical Sherwin Williams an Benjamin Moore really are in the long run. Home depot is convenient- that's about it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I've been a professional painting contractor for 27 years. ... I've been a professional painting contractor for 27 years. We've used every paint imaginable. The best we've used recently is Benjamin Moore's Regal Select and Aura. The worst we've used is Behr Marquee. The reasons are the following: Doesn't cover well - 3 coats required for full coverage. Doesn't set up well - sags and runs due to slow dry time. Occasionally a client will furnish their own paint and we'll have an opportunity to try one we haven't tried in a while. Once again, I was disappointed with Behr paint. I can't believe Consumer Reports rated it #1. Something funny going on there. This is how I would rank the paints we use in the San Francisco Bay Area. Benjamin Moore's premium paints #1, Sherwin William's premium paints #2 (stay away from anything other than there premium paints - they're poor quality), Kelly Moore's premium paints, Dunn Edwards' premium paints, ICI's premium paints, and way down the list at last place is Behr paint. I hope this helps you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Painting I have recently just finished painting the entire interiour of my condominium. First let me say that I am a woodworker and do not relish the activity of painting. I started out using the Behr Premium Paint product and it worked well enough using two coats. A person down the street from me had just done one of their rooms and used the Behr Ultra product and had great results with it. So, me being one to always seize an advantage, decided to give the Ultra Paint & Primer in one product a try. Was I pleasently surprised! I was so glad that I had just started the interiour painting when I was turned on to this paint. I finished the entire project using it all the way....ONE COAT BEAUTY! I can only say I recommend this product without reservation and will sing it's praises high and loud! FYI, I have decided to paint the exteriour of my condo now and have already purchased our color selection at my local Home Depot, using of course...Behr Ultra Paint & Primer. Give it a try, you will never look back!

I'm not a pro but I've painted quite a few rooms/hallways etc. for my homes, relatives, our kids yada yada in my 70 year journey. BEHR works well on most all surfaces including those which are prepped good and those not so good. Cuts in good around windows and doors. Brushes and rollers keep well in plastic zip lock bags ready for the next coat same day (worked well for me a few days later). In general though I've found it just comes out much better with two coats of paint. So plan on that and you will be happier. We seem to be patient when we hire it out (your paying for it and you don't have much of a choice) so be patient for your self if you choose to be the DIY person.Take the time and extra paint. It is still more economical and satisfying. Just finished living room, master bedroom and hallway. Four gallons and we are happy with out come.

I used this paint to cover original contractor white (13 years) painted hallway walls. I liked the minimal smell and the smoothness of application with roller and brush to cut in. The color was a beige type (Dainty Lace), so over white I figured it would for sure be a one coat. I first tested it on a couple places where my 3 year old step daughter got a hold of a sharpie and demonstrated her art skills (I tried the magic eraser which helped, but only about 50%). I noticed when the paint dried (which by the way was surprisingly fast- less than 30 minutes to the touch), I could see the "art" bleed through slightly. I brushed over it with 1 more coat and then it was gone. I did this to all the other spots where it might bleed through as well. I'm an experienced though not professional painter, and I realize the need for proper prep work. I liked this product overall and would really give it a 4.5 star rating if I could! I used 2 gallons for about 550 sq ft on dry paint sucking walls which I think isn't bad!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I used Behr Marquee Ultra Pure White to paint 2... I used Behr Marquee Ultra Pure White to paint 2 closets. I had painted them in 2008/2009 with Behr's Decorator White. I repaired holes and patches after taking out the existing organizers, primed those spots as well as any scuffs that wouldn't come off with Behr primer. I ran out of the Marquee paint with 1 1/4 walls left on the 2nd coat as the 1st coat didn't cover well at all. I have never used Marqee and had 1 coat be sufficient and I always make sure the walls are properly washed and primed. I think this was the biggest disappointment since they were going over already white walls. After 1 coat, there were marks visible through the paint, you could see where I'd edged versus rolled. It was just bad and I use high quality brushes and rollers. If it weren't for the price, I'd say it was decent paint but it is very over priced for what it is.
