We used it on walls. I don't think it would hold up In a bathtub.

      By|Apr 21, 2020

Hi Misty, thank you for your question. No, we would not recommend using our Ultra paint, or our other paints, on a bathtub application. Our products are not recommend on surfaces that will be submerged underwater. We'd suggest checking with your local store for a marine-based coating. Hope this info helps. Best of luck with your project. -Joanna

It works on sheet rock and plaster, even dusty plaster sections. When finished with the baseboards, we were touching up areas with the left over paint and used it on dry wall and a plastered patch. On the plastered patch, we did wipe it first with a damp paper towel.

Hi Cris11203, thanks for writing in with your question. Yes, our Ultra Paint will work on bare sheetrock and plaster. The first coat will be a primer coat, and additional coats will even out the color and finish. Good luck with your project! -Giovanna

Not a paint expert but you raise interesting question. Generally, i think paint that has a bit of gloss (not shiny) would wash better. We used to have apartments. Didn't worry about washing because if tenant left, it had to be repainted - period so we used paint that covered well but didn't wash especially good. Your need is different so i would go with the best quality paint (generally the highest priced). And hope your BnB tenants will wash their hands once in awhile.

                              By|May 27, 2019

The flat is washable, but the least of all the finishes. The higher the gloss the easier it will be to wash.

Hello Joan. I think your best choice of paint would be to go with a matte finish. Matte has just a little bit more sheen than flat (really only noticeable when looking down along the surface (it's called "side-sheen where I come from). Matte is more washable than flat, and would serve you well. Both Ultra and Marquee are good products. Either will be fine. Good Luck!

Hi Joan, thanks for writing in with your question. I recommend our Marquee Interior Matte Paint for your project. This is our best interior paint with a scrubbable finish. Keep in mind that the higher the sheen, the more durable and scrubbable the coating will be. Good luck with your project! -Giovanna

Good Day GEO; BEHR has low VOC. It is best that you review the product SDS (Safety Data Sheet) to ensure that you are familiar with its information that may be of concern to you. Home Depot makes all this information available. It highlights specifications, chemical contents, compliance to various standards and regulations. From my experience, having painted interiors, exteriors and floors; BEHR paint is the best I have used. Usually when I paint a room I elect not to occupy for at least 24 or 48 hours to allow proper drying and ventilation process to occur. Always use breathing masks when painting; it is a good practice; even if open ventilated areas, and follow safety guidelines. Good luck painting with BEHR- sincerely, it is a the best paint I have used and it is a great value.

Yes Behr is low Voc's I would wait one over night before moving into the room, not because of smell or drying factor but because the polymers in the paint are soft, one over night hardens the finish nicely.

Most, if not all Latex paints are low/zero VOC these days. It will be labeled on the can stating if its low or zero VOC. Most Oil based paints and primers are not. Regardless of the type of paint, you should always paint in a well ventilated area. Just open a window or two while you paint. Most paints are dry to touch within an hour. Please follow the instructions on the back of the can. There are many different types of paint that have shorter or longer dry times, as well as prep. Usually the cheaper the paint, the longer the dry time between coats. You can use the area that was painted in about an hour. But do not clean the freshly painted walls for at least two weeks for the paint to fully cure.

Hi Geo, Thank you for your questions! Our Premium Plus Interior paint line is Zero VOC and our Premium Plus Ultra and Marquee Interior paint lines are low VOC. The majority of VOCs will leave the painted surface after the first 24 hours. Keeping the room or your home well ventilated by opening windows, doors, and setting up large fans will also help speed up the dry time. Best - Sara

I have never applied interior or exterior latex paint in near freezing weather. Ten years later, the oil-base paint still looked excellent!

Hi BSG, Thanks for writing in with your question. Ideally, the temperature when applying the paint and cure time of the coating will remain between 35-90 degrees Fahrenheit. However, if the paint has at least four hours to dry at that range, it will be okay if the temperature drops at night. Avoid rain or heavy condensation for 24 hours or more. If the paint does not have enough time to dry at the recommended temperature range, the coating will take longer to cure and dry. Good luck with your project! Regards, Giovanna

                                                        By|Nov 26, 2018

If you're going to paint at 35 degrees, you're walking a thin line. A big problem with low temperature painting is that the surfactants in the paint (they're like soap, and the lower the surface tension, or make the paint flow better, or something). When it's cold they will tend to rise to the surface of the paint and leave a whitish, cloudy area. This doesn't affect the durability or protection of the coat of paint, it just looks bad. Usually these areas can be rinsed off with a hose when it's actually warm enough to work outside. Remember though, freezing is unhealthy for acrylic paints. And remember, the surface you're painting needs to be properly prepared. I would wait, if you can.

Good question, BSG; Conditions vary when painting interiors or exteriors; no 2 applications are identical or the experiences that some realize when painting. Ambient temperatures, humidity, wind conditions, etc. create unique conditions for every site. Therefore, I recommend that you consult the product specification sheet for your specific BEHR paint you intend to use (available through The Home Depot website) to better understand the range of temperatures, and other factors; that result in a successful outcome. Good luck on your project.

                                                                    By|Nov 26, 2018

There is baby safe paint, which is essentially ZERO VOC paint. Still, you must make sure you sand thoroughly and make sure the paint adheres well and is dry before use. I would wait at least two weeks after last coat has been dried before using for the baby. Hours of work, you may be better off with a new crib if you dont have the time to do it right.

Excellent results for the former manager of Paint for GE Range Department. Clean up took a little longer due its density and quality adhesion but well worth the effort.

One container dropped less than a foot and 1/2 gallon of paint was all over the floor and walls due to the shoddy container construction. I had not even opened it. That would never happen with a metal can. Someone obviously thought that HD could save money with a less expensive can construction. Bad idea!!!! I will buy my paint somewhere else next time.

In this case, with the lighter color, I was covering a mid-tone blue and had to apply twice, but the results were great. With the mid-tone color, I only had to apply one coat for great coverage. Behr is, and has been my first choice for several years.
