  • Excellent hide; 1 gallon covers up to 400 sq. ft. depending on application, color and surface porosity
  • Use a high quality 3/8" - 1/2" nap roller cover, nylon/polyester brush or airless sprayer (.015" - .019" spray tip, 60 mesh filter)
  • Use BEHR ULTRA paint as a primer for properly prepared uncoated or painted interior surfaces, including woods that contain tannins (two primer coats required for redwood and cedar) and heavily stained areas.  For heavy stains, test for stain bleed-through by applying BEHR ULTRA as a topcoat to a small section.  If bleeding continues, a longer dry time is needed before top coating.

Q:I have a basic steel 6-panel entry door, will this paint work for this application without having...

Answer This Question

A:  Hello KCMO, Great question. If the steel door has not been painted before, then I would suggest using a separate primer like our Multi-Surface Primer & Sealer No. 436 for best results. However, if the door has been painted before, then you don't need to purchase a separate primer. Best regards, Kevin

Still love the color after 10 yrs!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I painted two bedrooms with Behr Garden Wall 10 years ago. It's a deep, rich color and I love it now as much as I did when I chose it. It has worn really well and I have only had to spot paint when I moved some furniture and scuffed a couple of places.

          Behr Marquee equals One Coat
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When Behr Marquee says "One Coat"....they mean it! I have now completed many areas in my home, and this is the only interior paint that I use now. We absolutely love Behr products.

            Great One-Coat Paint and Primer
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] as a landlord since 2016, I have used BEHR MARQUEE for several years. The main reason that I always use BEHR MARQUEE is that I need only one coat. Also, I have the option of selecting a variety of paint colors. Most importantly, BEHR has freqently sales, which is budget friendly.

              Exceeded all my expectations
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] There are so many reasons why I love Behr paint. First, they have so many color options you are sure to find a color that matches your taste and style. The color I selected also remained true to what I saw on the swatch. Second, It's been several months since I completed my painting project, and I'm excited to report that the paint has held up remarkably well. It's resistant to scuffs, stains, and wear and tear. The finish is also easy to clean, which is a huge plus for maintaining the look of my home. I couldn't be happier with the results, and I wholeheartedly recommend this paint to anyone embarking on a home improvement journey. It's truly a top-notch product that exceeded my expectations and made painting my house a joyful experience.

Pay the Extra Cost for Quality
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was at Home Depot and saw a rep in the paint section from a Behr competitor. I've used Behr for about 8 years now, but their products were less expensive so I asked how they compared to Behr Marquee with their one coat coverage. She was very kind and knowledgeable about the two paint brands and affirmed their product would complete the job in one coat as well, so I went ahead and purchased two gallons for my project to save some money. Their paint poured out very thin, but I continued to trust the product and the rep. When everything dried, I was so disappointed to see streaks of darker and lighter paint. I tried to finish the job with the remaining paint, but it didn't work. Even the areas with the second coat of tan did not fully cover the light gray paint below. I went back to purchase one gallon of the Marque and it was like night and day. I love the thick viscosity of the Marque brand and how a brush holds the paint rather than running. It also seems more deeply pigmented or perhaps it holds the pigments more fully compared the competitor. The end product is worth it! All that time and money wasted convinced me to stick with what works even though it may be more expensive. Yes, it's more costly, but this confirms the saying, "You get what you pay for."

                    Incredible coverage!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was hesitant to spend more than normal for a gallon of paint but this had such great reviews and claimed it covered really well so I gave it a shot. I was truly astounded at how well it covered and how well it went on. I was able to paint my entire master bedroom with a bit left over and the room is a pretty good size. This is going to be my go to paint from now on!!!

Not pleased with Scuff Defense at all!
I have had to use too many coats of paint for one wall. Wall was lightly sanded and was a light beige. I used Polka Dot Skirt and it was frustrating! Cellini Gold was smooth as ice - no problem! This Polka Dot Skirt has to be applied 3 times. You can see the lines of demarcation and the edge was wet!!! Maybe it's the color but I am disappointed. Last picture is 3rd coat sample.

Response from Christina, Behr Customer CareSep 1, 2023
Hi there, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. I'm sorry to hear the color Polka Dot Skirt didn't cover how you expected. To fix this, I recommend applying another coat with your 3/8in nap roller. You can apply the paint in columns while maintaining a wet edge, reloading your roller after each column to help you get the best coverage. I've also reached out to you via email to get more info about your project and assist further. Thanks again for reaching out, and I hope to hear from you soon! -Christina
