BEHR ULTRA SCUFF DEFENSE Stain-Blocking Paint and Primer* is an interior paint that's too tough to scuff and sets a new standard for paint durability. BEHR ULTRA SCUFF DEFENSE features breakthrough innovation to deliver a rich finish that is truly durable enough for high-traffic areas.   • Use BEHR ULTRA SCUFF DEFENSE Paint as a primer for properly prepared uncoated or painted interior surfaces, including woods that contain tannins (2 primer coats required for redwood and cedar) and heavily stained areas
  • Lock in stains with BEHR ULTRA SCUFF DEFENSE Paint as a spot primer, for heavy stains, test for stain bleed-through by applying BEHR ULTRA SCUFF DEFENSE Paint to a small section, if stain bleeds through, spot prime another coat to the stained area and test again before top coating, if bleeding continues, a longer dry time is needed before top coating
  • Apply when air and surface temperatures are between 50°F-90°F (10°C-32°C), darker colors may require additional dry time between coats, cooler temperatures or higher humidity may prolong drying time

Q:Can I use this paint for baseboards and crown molding? Does it level out like an oil base paint nut has no VOC's?

A:  Hi Debby, thanks for the question. You can use our Ultra Paint for baseboards and crown molding. I did want to point out that our Ultra Paint has very low VOCs. Also, we do have our Urethane Alkyd Enamel that is great for trim. It has the flow and leveling of an oil-based paint but the convenience of a water-based paint. Have a great day! -Ronald

    A:  I won't use this for Trim. Use the Behr White Semi-Gloss Enamel Interior/Exterior Cabinet, Door & Trim Paint. I used this on Trim with excellent results. It levels out nicely.

        A:  The minute you apply paint to wallpaper it will cause it to come off. Not a good idea to paint over wallpaper

          A:  Hi 2Sweet, thanks for your question. Our Ultra Scuff Defense paint can be applied over wallpaper, provided you prime with an oil-based primer first. The primer will seal the wallpaper and prevent the adhesive from reactivating when you apply this paint. Good luck with your project! -Christina

                A:  Dries in a couple hours, but it you’re worried about color match, or want to put another coat on, I wait till the next day.

                    Horrible waste of time, effort & money. Disgusted
                    Over 25 yrs, learned most claim one coat coverage, durable, etc & don't work as stated. Not expecting miracles. On a good day, paint is absolutely horrible. Used to paint wood baseboard/trim. Prepped, degreased & properly cleaned. 3 coats got it to look average, not even close to good. Tape to mark off lines & edges, even scored prior to ensure clean crisp removal. Peeling EVERYWHERE. Hundreds in wasted $$$, literally needs redone. BEYOND DISGUSTED. DONT BUY THIS PAINT, WILL ABSOLUTELY REGRET IT

                    Hi Chris, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that you did not get the coverage you expected and that the paint started peeling when removing the tape. Typically, our Ultra Paint will cover in two coats, while darker colors and porous surfaces may require additional coats. When possible it's best to remove the tape before the paint dries. Also it when removing the tape, it's best to remove it at a 45 degree angle. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback.                       Pleasant Surprise from an Old standby
                      Many folks recommended other brands like Sherwin Williams & Benjamin Moore paints but decided for the money & being white this product was worth a try for the money saved especially, what a nice surprise as to the flow from my Airless sprayer which was converted to roller for first time & worked really, really well.

                      Worst paint ever
                      I've painted thousands if gallons of paint over the years, and Behr was one of my top companies to use. This paint has made ne never want to use them again, it's absolutely terrible. First of all, it goes on kinda thick, but ultimately coveres nothing, it's practically transparent. It'll show on the wall where you left off with a dark streak and I'm pretty sure a second coat won't cover either. We got the Marquee to second coat it.
