Product Details

BEHR ULTRA SCUFF DEFENSE Stain-Blocking Paint and Primer* is an interior paint that's too tough to scuff and sets a new standard for paint durability. BEHR ULTRA SCUFF DEFENSE features breakthrough innovation to deliver a rich finish that is truly durable enough for high-traffic areas. This soft eggshell sheen creates a velvety appearance that's easy to clean and stands up to scrubbing. Don't settle or compromise between the look you desire and higher level of durability you require. *A PRIMER COAT MAY BE NEEDED ON SOME SURFACES. SEE BACK LABEL FOR DETAILS.
  • Ideal for busy high traffic areas, family rooms, living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, kids’ rooms and hallways
  • Eggshell sheen offers a soft velvety appearance
  • Excellent hide; 5 gallons cover up to 2000 sq. ft. depending on application, color and surface porosity
  • For best application, use a high quality 3/8 in. - 1/2 in. nap roller cover, nylon/polyester brush or airless sprayer (0.015 in. - 0.019 in. spray tip, 60 mesh filter)
  • Use BEHR ULTRA SCUFF DEFENSE Paint as a primer for properly prepared uncoated or painted interior surfaces, including woods that contain tannins (2 primer coats required for redwood and cedar) and heavily stained areas
  • Lock in stains with BEHR ULTRA SCUFF DEFENSE Paint as a spot primer, for heavy stains, test for stain bleed-through by applying BEHR ULTRA SCUFF DEFENSE Paint to a small section, if stain bleeds through, spot prime another coat to the stained area and test again before top coating, if bleeding continues, a longer dry time is needed before top coating
  • Apply when air and surface temperatures are between 50°F-90°F (10°C-32°C), darker colors may require additional dry time between coats, cooler temperatures or higher humidity may prolong drying time
  • The true benefit is an eggshell finish appearance with scuff resistance of a gloss, a combination not typical in traditional lower sheen paints
  • Advanced scuff and mar resistance helps protect wall surfaces in busy households. Do not use on floors.
  • Exceptional burnish resistance provides an easy-clean finish for long lasting beauty
  • Advanced stain-blocking formula, stain resistant
  • Excellent durability and hide in fewer coats
  • Antimicrobial mildew resistant finish, 100% acrylic

Q:we have vinyl clad sheetrock in a manufactured home...will it cover the print of the wallpaper??

    Answer This Question

A:  Hi gmom - Thank you for your question. This product can be used over well-adhered vinyl wallpaper and will completely cover the print. Please keep in mind that if the wallpaper is textured, our Ultra paint will not hide the texture. To ensure the best adhesion, we recommend scuff sanding glossy surfaces and priming the wallpaper with an oil-based primer before painting. Best wishes for your project! - Sara

A:  Hello Cathy, Thanks for writing in. I recommend checking out Cameo White MQ3-32 and White Veil OR-W14. You can also check out more colors in the Color Smart section at the Behr.com website. I hope this information helps. Best, Roxana N.

A:  Hi Cathy, Thanks for reaching out! Cameo White (MQ3-32) is the ideal trim color for Honey Tea (MQ2-18). For an edgy pop of color, you can also try Teal Motif (MQ6-35). Happy painting! ~Doris

I found the Behr Marquee to be smooth and easy to apply. I applied two coats to create a back splash in my kitchen, that also works as an accent. I decided to use this as a boarder around my cabinet doors and for all the edges of the drawer faces, too. Mother nature is delaying the final finishing work, but it looks fantastic.

This is a quality paint. One coat will usually do the job. I just painted the exterior of my house, so I can not speak of the durability yet. But time will tell.

          Great color, Not impressed.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this paint (7 gallons in total, 5 different colors) for our new house. We washed all the walls in the rooms, allowed 48 hours to dry. This has been a painful painting experience. It is our first time using Behr and I’m not very impressed at all. Some rooms have taken 3 coats and may need more. No matter how much we mixed the paint some spots were thick and applied nicely and other spots just smeared or went on extremely thin. Our walls look very spotty and the coverage was not as even as one would like. We tried different rollers and brushes but still received the same result. I can’t say whether or not we would buy the paint again.

Response from Franeelly, Behr Customer CareNov 23, 2022
Hi there, thank you for reviewing our paint. I'm sorry to hear about the coverage issues you experienced while trying out our Behr Ultra Paint for the first time. That is not typical, and I can understand your disappointment. Typically, our Ultra Paint will cover in two coats. However, porous surfaces may require additional coats for uniformity. I recommend allowing the paint to dry for 24 hours. Paint dries from the outer layer inward, and this may allow the color to even out so you can decide whether another coat is necessary. If that is the case, I recommend using a high-quality 3/8" nap roller cover while following the recommended spread rate and allowing the paint to dry for at least 2 hours in between coats. I've also reached out to you via email to learn more about your project and assist you with this further. Thank you again for sharing your honest feedback, and I hope to hear from you soon! -Lina
            Great for kids bedrooms
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I painted my twins' bedroom with this paint. I really like the lower sheen of the eggshell, but that I can still wash the walls because let's face it, kids torture walls. Cleans up great!

                      Outstanding paint!
The contractor grade paint was terrible in out new house. Every time someone looked at the wall there was a new mark or scuff. I couldn’t take it anymore and I was not about to pay an arm and a leg to have someone else to come in and paint with cheap paint again, so I decided to paint the entire inside of my house myself. I would not be more pleased. The application was easy and covers the old paint very well. I couldn’t be happier with the results.
