A:  Hello, the seat does lay flat. No elevation that I can feel. Quite comfortable for me, no mobility issues yet. The wooden ones are okay, but do get brittle with time. These seats here are light and amazingly durable. Cleaning is a breeze, just no abrasives on it. Hope that helps.

A:  I have both the plastic & the wood seat from Bemis at Home Depot , trust me you don't want the plastic one it's too flimsey & won't fit properly too small !! Stick with the heavy wood type it is sturdy unlike the plastic ! I hope this helps you. Wayne :-)

A:  They are spacers in case you need them , most install,s don't. :-)

A:  Hello. They are required adapters for a different type of water closet. It allows for a proper fit. Sounds like you didn’t need them... do toss them. Best wishes. By the way... some of the finest plumbers I know are female. :)

A:  They are washers to spread the strain of people sitting on the seat around. Without them I bet the service life would be notability shorter. The seat might slide around a bit more as well.

A:  For the toilet seat won’t move.

A:  The metal pieces act as a washer for the bolts that go through the toilet seat bracket. It's a square shape in the seat bracket that the square piece goes into. So, in order it would be, the square pieces (washers), then the bolt goes through the washers, then the seat bracket, the white star pieces that go on the top side of the bowl holes, then finally the tapered plastic break off nuts on the bottom side of the bowl holes.
