Q:how do you remove the toilet seat when you are ready to install a new one? We are resorting to sawing off the plastic bolt, which is a long process. This the second time we have had to go through this. There must be a way?

3 problems - Broke within 18 months. :(
I HATE when companies make things designed to break. It’s so wasteful, and such a shame.
This is basically crappy particle board painted white.
CONS:
X started bubbling on the surfaces where apparently the wood was not properly sealed. Top and bottom sides. (We absolutely do not leave moisture on the seats).
XX 2/3 seats stopped staying open whilst in use. (Sorry, guys! Pee fast!).
XXX The seat cracked clean through this week after -maybe- 18 mos.
FOR SHAME, BEMIS. DO BETTER.

Great hardware, but seat breaks in about 1 year.
Bought 2 of these in 10/2018. First seat broke in 03/2020. Bought a replacement. Next seat broke in 10/2020. Complained; Home Depot replaced under warranty. Third one broke in 2021; Home Depot replaced under warranty. 03/2022 seat broke; warranty not good anymore, bought another one. Last night seat broke; replaced today 09/04/2023 at Home Depot under warranty.
Really like the way it is a slow close with the hardware. But --- there is a definite issue with the seat breaking.

Bought this toilet seat 6 weeks ago to replace the one that was 15 years old. Sitting on the john and I hear “pop”. It cracked in the same place as everyone elses on the left side. Trash. $30 plus dollars for junk as i didn’t even consider keeping the receipt for a freakin toilet seat!

Purchased 2 for home and office both cracked
Purchase first one for a brand new home to replace plastic seat. Installed great no issues tight and no movement.
Bought a second one for my private office bathroom less than a month apart. Same easy install - worked great.
Less than 6 weeks later the office one cracked 2 weeks after that the home one cracked almost in the same place.
Cant find replacement seat only - lid and hardware still brand new.
Obviously this is a manufacturing defect.

Decent Quality, Price a little high
I’ve had this toilet seat for about 6 months and recently the seat cracked on the right side all the way through. So the seat is a decent seat for the brushed nickel and soft close lid maybe just not the best quality seat.

Decent Quality Seat; Crooked Chinese Hardware
The Enameled Wood Seat is pretty good quality (sturdy and solid). The slow close hinges that came with mine were installed crooked which looks distasteful. Slow close is a nice feature.

Seat cracked within two months
Purchased this because it appeared to be high quality construction. Hinges look great and the wood felt solid. Loved that it was quiet close and it was also easy to install.
However, the seat cracked badly within two months of normal, typical usage. After checking reviews here and speaking with the customer service department at Bemis I’ve come to find out that they had many reports of their seats cracking due to the engineering of the seat itself. This was directly from their customer service department, who I’ll admit was very friendly and apologetic.

Fairly new toilet seat

Absolute trash
Bought a year ago. It is of poor quality. The white paint wears off from cleaning it. Most of the “metal” is plastic with a metalish coating that wears off and peals after a few months, which just looks bad. Had to replace it because the particle board that it is made of stripped from the screws. They didn’t even give you stainless bolts to use. Had to cut the seat off with a jack saw and melt the plastic bolt off to get it off.
Don’t buy this.

To clean and preserve your seat’s glossy finish, please use either anti-bacterial hand soap or a mild dish soap only. Wipe both sides of the cover and both sides of the ring. Thoroughly dry the cover and the ring with paper towel.
Please do not use bleach, vinegar, pine or essential oils, chlorine, acid, scouring powders, detergents, disinfectants, or products in aerosol cans. Harsh chemicals and abrasives can rub away the paint finish on enameled wood and the metal finish on the metal hinges. This can create a dull look on plastic toilet seats and a worn look on enameled wood seats, along with corrosion and peeling of the metal hinge finish.

Broke after 3 years, 4 months.
It was an easy install, and was a perfectly functional seat for 3+ years.
Nice and tight, no flex or movement, and then as I’m sitting I feel a slight movement. Finish up and.. broken seat.
No extreme overweight use, normal ranges up to maybe 250. Regular users under 210.
