This saw was a complete surprise to me. When I bought it I never realized it would cut as good and as long on one battery. With only a 12 inch blade it will cut larger trees than I would ever think it would. Great saw and a great price. You just can't beat it.

Sure is small but will meet my needs. Requires constant attention to chain tension and manual oil feed. I do like its portability and it is relatively quiet There is no variable speed. Only on or off.

It gets the job done, but with only 2 batteries that are only 6 months old, It really can only cut hard for 10 minutes or so. So for small jobs or tasks that you don't mind taking days to complete, it works great. Try using canola oil instead of petro based bar and chain oil!

I have only used it a couple of days, so can't speak to long term durability, but it has exceeded my expectations in function. I've gotten arthritis as I've gotten older and so a gas chainsaw is too much for me. This is well balanced and light weight but comparable to using a gas saw in what I can cut with it. The chain is very easy to tighten (etc) too - unlike the one on my DR pole saw.

pleasantly surprised! sort of impulse bought this as I've been buying more & more of the 20v max line. I already had the trimmer, hedger, sweeper (aka mini-blower), a Porter Cable light & the B&D drill that started it all. I also already had a PoulanPro 262, a popular gas chainsaw that's served me well but wanted to see how this stacked up against it. like all 20v tools the big pluses are low size/weight plus no need to premix fuel or worry about fuel age, periodically running engine just to keep clean, etc. the limitations are power (20v is obviously less than 40 or 60, let alone 50cc gas) & runtime (though that's easily fixed w/5AH aftermarket batteries). like all the 20v tools it's way lighter than it's gas sibling so much easier for wife/kids to use (no, as a matter of course I don't let kids use chainsaw! referring to blower, trimmer & hedger though true of this one as well). SO - specifically re: this chainsaw vs the 262? well, the obvious thing to do was a saw-off so saw-off I did! cut pieces of the same piece of hickory firewood (~4-6") w/both saws - gas Poulan did it in 30s vs 20v B&D took 38s. so 262's 30% faster, right? not quite... see, gas took ~30s to get up to a usable state - it had to be primed, choked, cranked & revved up to run temp! 20v is just squeeze trigger & cut - ZERO startup latency! & that's not even counting fueling! while a full fuel load on the Poulan undoubtedly lasts longer swapping batteries takes ~5s vs gas is easily a minute (assuming you prefer not to set yourself on fire). bottom line - I'm not about to give my Poulan away (hey, if nothing else 18" is still > 10") but having invested in 4 aftermarket 5AH 20v batteries (in addition to all the 2AH ones that came w/my various tools) I have a hard time picturing myself ever using it again. if you already have a gas saw it's probably not worth running out to replace unless your a gadget person w/disposable income but if you're looking for a 1st chainsaw buy this one w/o hesitation! (but get a 5AH off amazon, don't get ripped off on branded low capacity batteries!)

Excellent. Easy to use and long battery life. Being a contractor and knowing battery tools. I had certain expectations but they were succeeded. Dewalt has always done me well. Weedwacker is so easy to use that wife feels comfortable enough to do it. NO MORE GAS. Have a fenced in half acre and no problems finishing. Only wish perhaps it had a strap gets heavy after an hour of using but ergo handle is great. Haven't tried hedge trimmer but sure it's great. Cordless blower is a great tool to use too. I bring it camping or just blowing out my garage or yard cleanup

The re-design, the wheel that tightens the chain, is terrific. Very smart, easier to maintain than my old ones. Black & Decker chainsaws are great value for the money. Confession.... I burned out two B&D saws to take down a 75-foot-plus tree (4-foot trunk) that was killed by a hard freeze a few years ago. (Yes, we do get below 25 in Arizona). The landscape company I called wanted $3,000.... so I did it myself... a real Homer! Invested the money in the saws and abused them until they died in service. Put the $2,500 we saved toward our daughter's college fund.

This saw is a great trimmer for the small jobs. The problem is with the oiler. I disassembled the saw to access the oiler assembly, and discovered the tubing that connects the oiler to the pump and subsequent oil slot was simple surgical (soft rubber) and had slipped off the ribbed fittings. The tubes need to be replaced or clamped to prevent leakage. If you don't mind the fix, it's a great little saw.

Good price, fast shipping. Excellent saw. It cuts cleanly, smoothly, and easily. It seems to use a lot of bar oil, but that is no big problem. The oil runs-out at about the same time the battery runs-down. Easy to take apart and clean. It would be nice if H-D also sold the add-on BLACK+DECKER™ 40V MAX* Lithium 2.5 Ah Battery.
