Four years and still going strong
Bought this same model back in 2016 because I just needed an inexpensive drill for the home. I was expecting it would last maybe a year, just enough time to get through some household projects. During the years it has tackled all sorts of drilling and driving, including building shelves in the garage. I have never babied this tool and yet it continues to perform. Every year I expect the battery to fail, but it continues to hold a charge. Recently I noticed the drill bits would stop spinning after starting into the material. I ordered one of those expensive drills as a replacement, not realizing that all I needed to do was clean the inside of the chuck jaws. Now my Black and Decker drill is back to normal.
While I would not recommend this drill to a pro, for a DIYer this is a great tool that will handle lots of tough projects. The built in LED comes in handy when working in dim areas, the 20 volt battery provides plenty power to the task, and the machine feels well balanced. Yes the chuck is plastic, but that hasn't every stopped me. It has two speeds for drilling and driving with a variable rate trigger. A screw and Phillips bit is included and clips to the base of the handle. The charger is not fast but again for home use it not an issue.

This drill isn't the biggest or the strongest but if you are looking for a drill to get small things done around the house (TV mounting, picture frame mounting, etc...) I would highly recommend due to the pricing of the product. I love the way it fits in my hand and the light helps a lot especially when your mounting a 55 inch TV on the wall. Meets my household expectations I would not recommend as a job site tool unless your on a budget.

Bad 40 V battery
Looks like I have the same problem that you all are having. Red blinking light after very few recharges. Lithium 1.5AH 40V. I guess I will call support and see what they will do with this useless battery. I agree - one would not expect this from B&D.

Badd Lithium Battery after 2 charges
i bought a B&D blower and after 2 charges the battery no longer charges. It seems it is a recurring problem. I am not going to purchase a replacement battery unless I receive a credit. This is not a good product!

Black and Decker is better than this!
Purchased a blower this past spring '23 and the battery isn't charging fully anymore. It actually starts blinking green and then eventually goes to fast read indicating that the battery isn't good. Black and Decker has been a household name for generations. Really disappointed. Would like to replace it, but that costs as much as purchasing another blower and that really doesn't make much sense to do that just to get a new battery.

Horrible battery life
I wish I would have checked reviews before I had had my son get me the LHT2240 hedge trimmer. Sounds like 40V 1.5 ah is poorly made. My first battery was flashing red before ever using it. The replacement is only 7 months old is is know flashing red

Battery failure after less than a year
Purchased a trimmer in August 2022, used it 4 or 5 times. Tried to charge the battery today (July 2023) and got red blinking light indicating battery is dead or will not take charge. Really disappointed. Nice trimmer but less than a year old. Seems foolish to purchase new same battery. Jule

B&D String Trimmer is fine; the 40V battery is not
Purchased the BLACK+DECKER 40V MAX* String Trimmer / Edger, 13-Inch (LST140C) on June 9th and already the 40V 1.5Ah battery indicates it is not taking a full charge as the charger is flashing red. Assuming the charger was the fault, I changed chargers and within minutes, the same flashing red indicator on the charger appeared again.
