7.5 in. 12 Amp Corded Electric 2-in-1 Lawn Edger & Trencher

I purchased the LE750 from Home Depot in 2017. I use it twice each year to edge my driveway. My previous B&D edger lasted over 30 years. During recent use the edger was losing power. When I disassembled it there was a chipped gear piece lodged in the larger gear causing rough running. I cleaned that but it still lacked power. When I disassembled the motor I discovered that the slots where the brushes run had worn and melted allowing the brushes to move out of alignment. There is no metal sleeve for the brushes and the plastic used is obviously not up to the task of supporting the brushes. I have been unable to find the plastic part on any repair website as what is shown for the type 7 in parts schematics is not how mine is built. B&D quality has definitely slipped. I liked the job it did when it ran properly.

This is the second B+D LE750 (Type 7) Edger/Trencher that I have purchased. The first LE750 (Type 7, wired, 120VAC) I purchased in 2019 and was used several times a year (not heavily) and died from failure of the 120VAC motor brushes. The brushes were not worn out but rather broke apart. Should have been an easy repair via brush replacement but replacement brushes are available, either through B+D or other online parts sources. Much as I love the job this edger/trencher does and its design, I cannot recommend it to anyone that expects to be able to repair it.

Handle was easy to assemble & voila!! Ready to go. Works as expected, but did have a tendency to tip sideways. My sidewalks were BAD as had not edged in 3 years. They are so nice looking now & I reclaimed about 6 inches of sidewalk on each side!

The product was a replacement for the B&D edge hog I thought it is poorly made fragile plastic wheels, thin metal shaft motor not sturdy enough to get through overgrown edges …. So dissatisfied with the product?

The new handle design is not good, but the Edger works great. Handle knob has Less Stability, Harder to control, not as safe. The previous models had the larger Loop handle, Better control and safer to use.

Light weight and easy to use. I bought this one because it was corded and I didn’t have to worry about using gas. Perfect for my yard.!

Made cheaper than they used to be. As mentioned in other reviews, the blade guard on this edger and the other brands interferes with the grass edge significantly if your grass area is thick and higher than the sidewalk. I had to modify the blade guard as shown in the photos. With that mod which is easy, it works okay. Unfortunately, appears to be no other brands to select of that are better. Handle is too small and flimsy. Not good when have to modify tool just bought to make it usable!!

I’m begging you—stop reading all reviews and DON’T BUY THIS! it is junk. The bolt for the blade run in the same direction—you have you tighten the bolt several times. If you are even in the thinnest grass it will get loose and hope and pray you dont burn yourself or cut yourself tightening it. The handle moves left to right as you are truing to edge. HUGE SAFETY CONCERNS!! Called the company and TOLD ME TO GO GET ANOTHER ONE—WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS ZERO STARS—I WOULDNT GIVE THIS TO MY WORST ENEMY

Effective little tool that's easy to use. Glad we purchased it!
