Won't hold the charge. Do I need a new charger and/or a new battery?

The 1.5 amp battery that comes with it is too small. It will give you only a few minutes worth of work. Upgrade your battery to a 6 amp and it will give you one hour or more, worth of work. All battery chainsaws uses a lot of amps. The larger the amp of the battery, the longer it will hold a charge.

Can I use the same charger I already have for my 40V B&D batteries on the 20V battery?

No, it operates by rechargeable battery only.

What is the operating weight?

It wasn't heavy but just too awkward to use. It has to have one extension thus I had difficulty using it as it was then too long. I gave it to a good friend and he uses it all the time and loves it.

AWESOME SAW!!
I do not write many reveiws so I know by me writing this it has got to be an EXCELLANT product! I have owned one of these (same one) for at least 5 yrs. now and it is still going strong. Just completed cropping a LARGE Jacaranda tree. We took 12ft. plus limbs out and the limbs on some of them were at least 6 to 8 inches in diameter. The only things I would recommend is clean saw after every use and store in its carrier (not sure if it comes with that anymore) and oil it. Have not had to replace chain yet. I would also recommend having at least 3 charged batteries total for a large job. It pays for itself if you think how much it would cost you to hire someone to do it. They wanted $400.- to do what I just completed!!

I have 3 batteries due to this think burning thru them in an hour if constantly used, I like it myself, but for the price and only using it 3 different days maybe got 3-4 hours out of it before it went out trining small branches an issue made the gear stop turning and the saw was done for. It was taken care for light tree trimming work for 4 inch max in diameter before it stopped working, now it will cut thru butter when it comes to 1 inch or less in size but anything above 4 or 5 inch forget it, you can tell it won’t cut big because it’s made for small tree trimming which I used it for that specially, I have a chain saw for anything big like 8 inches or larger. Customer service at Home Depot was slow and I only got store credit that can only be used in store and of course they didn’t have this in store so you can’t get another one. My recommendation buy the extended warranty at least the short term one due to you having an issue after a month or two of use.

This pole chainsaw cut through evergreen tree trunks that were about 1-2" thick. I had a little difficulty with getting it to hold against pliable trunks, but they did eventually cut. It's not the most powerful saw, but it's certainly useful to get up high.
