This summer has included several, days-long hot spells here in San Jose, Ca. Temps were in the very high 90's and low 100's. Hot for this area.
My 60+ year old house has no insulation in the side walls. I used this reed material as shade for the south side of the house. I draped sections of this fencing sideways from the eaves, using two 6 foot 1x2 boards to sandwich the material and hung it from the eaves with air space between it and the wall. This kept the house much cooler during the hottest days.

Arrived in good condition. We used it as a privacy...
Arrived in good condition. We used it as a privacy screen on our back deck. We wanted to allow for plenty of light and air to come through and, it’s perfect for that. If you wanted a less “see-thru” screen, you would need to double up or, buy a larger thicker type of bamboo.

Not complete privacy but good
if you really want to block out neighbors get the large Reed bamboo wall even though it is more expensive. This looks good but won't 100% block out people.
