I had to modify this latch to work with my...
I had to modify this latch to work with my 8" post. I had to drill slots in the post to accept the bent edges on the latch which would "normally" be wrapped around the back of a 4" post. I also had to build-out a place on the back of my Adjust-a-Gate with wood strips to hold the striker plate. I liked the push down bar on the "outside" of the latch, making it easy to open when entering from the outside. I wish Boerboel had done the same in reverse on the back side. In use it's not hard to open from either side. We use this latch to open a gate under our elevated house, which keeps the dogs in the fenced yard. It was the best I could find online and by talking to several manufacturers. It's seems heavy-duty enough to hold up to a beach environment.
