A: It loosened up a bit with time.
A: These cans were designed mostly for hot ashes from a wood stove, or to store dry products during storage. So lid is made to be tight, when they are full with weight the lid is easier to pull off, try pulling up on an edge to get the lid started upward before pulling on handle
A: I would say yes, it's very sturdy. we use it to dump partially burned hot logs and ash from our fire pit and cover with the lid. Make sure you get the lid, they were in separate places in the store.
A: i took my caliper and check today. The small container, measured at the bottom is just under 1/8 inch. It is very sturdy. The bigger the can the thicker the metal. Hope this helps.
A: I am sure that it will.
A: Perfect for that use. If you have any active embers in the ash, the bucket is thick and large enough to keep it from causing a fire.
A: Eventually it will it depends on how complete the galvanization process was.
A: We use ours to store our Traeger pellets. It stays outside and has been for over a year with no issues at all. We love it
