After having this around for a few weeks, we still enjoy the beautiful look of this entertainment center. It works excellent for storage and we love the look. Putting it together required a lot of work. There are many parts to assemble, but the labels were very accurate. The sliding doors work very smooth and have cleverly placed magnetic latches to hold the doors open or shut. So glad we bought it!

nice looking unit; assembly well organized
My first comment is that under Specifications on the website, it says that the material is wood; it is actually some kind of particleboard or MDF, which is not surprising due to the price. In spite of that, it is a nice looking piece. Assembly was time consuming, but not difficult. The instructions mainly rely on labeled diagrams, which refer to the corresponding clearly labeled bags of hardware (see photo). There was one imperfection out of the box, and two more were created when screws penetrated through to the other side. They included a matching touch-up marker that worked pretty well to hide these issues. The barn-style doors glide smoothly. Overall, it's a nice looking unit that will serve its purpose.

      Solid piece when assembled!
This review is for the Cottonwood TV Stand for 60 in. TVs in Sawcut Espresso color, which I was granted the opportunity to check out. The unit comes, of course, unassembled. I assembled it without any assistance to give it a try, but I’d recommend that you get another person to help when you assemble your stand. The thing is heavy and some of the pieces are cumbersome (like aligning the top after the fasteners have been set in place, or when screwing the cardboard back to the finished assembly). Working by myself, using a small hammer, a #2 Phillips screwdriver, and a #2 Phillips bit in a Ryobi ½” drill assembly from “open the box” to “it’s done!” took just a bit over two hours. With an assistant I could’ve shaved a lot of that time off. The most difficult was aligning the cardboard back with one hand and attempting to attach it with the Ryobi in the other. Once a couple of screws were in place the rest were easy. I did double-check each fastener as I went along, which added a few minutes to the total. The box includes all of the stand pieces, required hardware, and assembly instructions. The assembly hardware comes in plastic bags and are clearly labeled, and each piece of the stand is labeled as well. The assembly instructions are not much more than pictographs – there are very few written instructions. The most helpful view was on page 5 of the instructions, showing an “exploded” view of all of the pieces and their orientation in regards to each other. The unit I received was missing one piece, a wooden dowel rod. There is a customer service number and a website listed in the manual in case you have an issue such as a missing part. I didn’t contact their help desk because I had a dowel from a previous project that fit. There was also a small damaged area (see photo) on the underside of one of the shelves. Since it was on the underside it isn’t visible and it’s a cosmetic, not a structural, fault, I didn’t call the help desk for a new shelf. (For small scratches and such there is a color pen included that matches the finish color of the stand; I didn’t use it on this blemish). There are “leg levelers” on the bottom front of the stand; if you have problems getting the doors to slide easily check the level of the stand and adjust as required. Also included is a device for securing the unit to a wall stud to avoid tipping. While the unit isn’t top heavy, if you have children in the house having a 60” T.V. on top of an unsecured stand may be an accident waiting to happen. The manufacturer heavily recommends that the furniture be secured to the wall. There is a maximum load limit of 75 pounds for the top of the stand and the load levels for the shelves vary from 15 to 20 pounds. See page 4 of the instructions for load limits or contact the manufacturer or Home Depot. In the middle compartment, where we put our modem / router/ t.v. box there are three holes available to run cabling through the back to the electronics. Unfortunately there are no plugs supplied for covering unused portions of the holes so the wall behind the unit shows through easily. See attached photo. Also the shelves adjust by using 90 degree anchors that can be placed in a variety of positions using pre-drilled holes. Again, there are no covers supplied for the unused holes so the bare wood holes contrast poorly with the finished look of the furniture. This, to me, is an oversight that should be corrected on future models of this stand. It makes the furniture look somewhat unfinished, and was my wife’s sole complaint about the stand. As for function, the stand will accept up to a 60” television. We have a 42” T.V. mounted and there is plenty of room left over. However, the two removable center shelves are too narrow to hold our Xfinity modem. I had to remove one of the shelves to make room for height clearance and place the modem on the bottom shelf of the stand. This says more about Xfinity than it does the Cottonwood stand – the Xfinity gear is oversized for its purpose. (The shelf is 11 ¾” x 22”). The doors slide easily but are solid, not transparent, so they must be open for our remotes to work properly. However, the shelves on the end compartments are well suited for knick-knacks or paperback books or what-have-you. You could, of course, put the electronics on the top of the unit along with the television. YMMV. Overall the unit is heavy, solid, and performs its intended function very well. I don’t think, at the market price, that the lack of covers for the holes or shelving brackets rates taking a star away from the overall rating, but I would have been more pleased had those covers been included and have marked “Quality” as “Good” rather than “Excellent” due to the marred finish and the lack of covers. HTH Regards, Jim

Perfect for what we need. The shelving is particle wood. Other than that we’re happy
